HIGH HIGH HIGH ping rates for servers

Is anyone else noticing HIGH ping rates....2500,1300, 200 etc, Lowest Ive seen is in the 90s? Is this gonna be the norm?

Erhmmm must be you, prolly because you live in the USA?
Here in Europe there are lots of servers with a ping range from 16-40

LOL well, yeah I do. Hold on I need to pack and find a flight. Id like to know why that is though, I havent read anything regarding the US servers having this issue.

Turn off your anti-virus or ad-aware program. It makes a huge difference.

Good signal ? No computers using up ur connectivity ? Maybe someone hacked your connection and is using it for free.

T1 isn't a great amount of down bandwidth usually people share T1's so my guess is you are sharing the connection and it's just not enough.

Ping changes depending on your connection and it's usage

I am on the US East coast. Lots of servers <100 ping. NY is usually under 50. TX is around 75. My ping to my own server varies from 13 to 47. It's usually less than 20. Then it better be low as it's just over in the corner behind the door.

Five years ago I tried a telephone broadband connection, terribly slow. The cable connection is like 10-20 times faster at least. I was at the very end, the max distance from the junction where they would even hook up service. I have friends that had that same service, but due to where they were located, had a better faster connection.

What hardware you use also plays a part. If you have an old old ethernet card it may have some issues. Older slower cable modems and broadband adapters may also reduce your connectivity. Some services are limited in one direction. Cheap connections are just that cheap and slow.
