oh thank ATI for catalyst 7.12! I can finally PLAY

that's right: my freeze/crash problem completely disappeared with this new driver! I used to not be able to play for more than between 5 and 30 minutes without a freeze crash. now I can play all day long without having to constantly restart the **** game! you'll see me a lot more often online now. especially after I receive my 3870 sometime this week

I currently use a pair of x1600 pro in crossfire, btw.

There are other ati 7-12 issues though.. they document a map load crash in thier info about the 7-12 driver.. it also royall6y screws up one of my 3d utilites, so I've already rolled back.. for the first time in about 6 months.

you're right, that map crash seems to be with vista only though, i'm still on XP. really not that much looking forward to make the switch as well. perhaps that's gonna change when the 3870 will arrive in the mail this week though.

I heard someone with the 3870 in SLi having problems with 7.12.

7.12 rocks... my 3dmark score went up, and I see about a 5fps boost across the board in UT3. No crashes, everything rock solid stable, running the best OS money can buy, XP x64.

I also heard various negative reports with a few games and concluded it must not be ready yet driver wise so I ordered just one card and I'll see about adding a second one this spring.

You will only have problems if you use vista. Which doesn't matter, because you shouldn't be using it in the first place, it is a joke.

                  Hi Mark,

Can you tell how does one talk on UT3 with a blue tooth device? (on ps3)

Huh I'm using the same video card as you and not only did my frames go up across the board in UT3 compared to 7.11 but my 3dmark06 score also went up about 150 points.

Make sure you get the latest chipset drivers and bios.

I'll try a different map, Shangrila hasn't been a consistant map for frames on my side tbh.
