    UT3 for the PS3

Ive ordered it, but as im wating ive been thinking about some things. Ive read numerous reviews to find out how the game deals with the 30fps issue. 80% of the reviews don't even comment on it, while the others that do mostly say it runs smooth.

Well, Im a hardcore ut player, so i would like a hardcore answer too. Does the 30fps hamper the gameplay in any way? Or have they optimized it for the console making it unnoticable?

Another concern is the 20-30% drop in game speed. Is it very noticable? Does it make the game too slow? I also read that you can't dodge using a keyboard :S but that guy had to be a ******, right?

And finally, i also heard that the ps3 community have too many noobs.
Well, the framerate issue is what is concerning me most, so i would be happy if you could give some input on that one.

I've got a PS3 and have beat the game and never noticed any slowdown except a little during a map load when the guy was talking about the maps layout. You can even intall files straight to your hard drive to help reduce load times. This would have probably fixed his stutor.

I'm very happy with the PS3's ability to handle the game. Turning down the graphics are not even possible because it's not needed.

Well in ut2004 the mouse accuracy was dependent on the framerate, so I guess that there is less mouse accuracy since ut3 on ps3 only runs at 30fps?

I think he's referring to the 20% slowdown of the game speed (as in movement and projectiles move 20% slower).

I bought the game last night, and I think the 20% slow down was a necessity when playing with console controllers. However, it may be too slow if you're playing with m&k. The speed freak setting supposedly let's you speed the game up.. but then it goes over the speed of the PC version. Hopefully they'll update it to be a slider.

I am an ex-pc player of unreal, ut, ut2003, and ut2004. The PS3 version is not quite up to par with those, but, I am enjoying it and aside from the dodge, crouch, and keybinding issues. (you cannot dodge by double tapping the key, you cannot crouch when you want as the system autocrouches for you in rare cases when you meet an obstacle that requires it, and you cannot bind to the ctrl or shift or tab or enter(?) keys)

There MIGHT be a small (pretty **** small) amount of mouse lag (even with usb mice) and a small amount of aiming lag due to that or the 30 fps lock...but I am getting used to it and it is nothing that I can tell is serious. As soon as Epic fixes the dodging, crouching, and keybinding issues, I will be a pretty happy guy.

No console access either, btw......I hope they fix that too.

The gamespeed is slower...no doubt...and I think it is too slow using Keyboard and mouse...so I run the speedfreak mutator alot...though it can be too fast for my taste (gamespeed =~ 135 on speedfreak). I can understand the decision when I think about gamepad users. I wish they would give us a slider or console access to set the gamespeed to something we choose....

So in summary, the slowdown (gamespeed) is noticeable. There is nothing really detectable to me about aiming due to 30fps lock, and dodging is not done by double tapping but rather by arrowing left or right and jumping.
No crouch either (which is a serious bummer when driving vehicles....HOW DO YOU GO DOWN?)

I have no doubt that Epic will address the majority of these issues. Splitscreen is also missing, but I don't care much about that. There are folks that do, and I understand their pain since Mark said this feature was in......bad blood brewing on that one.

I have the game fully installed and his voice still skips.

But can you use the speed mutator online? I guess the server need to have that mutator, since you cant have that mutator on by yourself? Or is the mutator just like an illusion of increase in speed like setting a higher fov?

And what about dodging? if you have to arrow right or left and then jump that would be restrective and less mobile than just double tapping where you have 100% control of there your gun is pointing at, whereas in this case you would have to change the direction of where your gun is pointing, making you less in control.

Its pretty stupid to change the actual control scheme on the keyboard from the pc version. This should undoubtedly get fixed soon. Gamespeed should also have a slide wher you can change it(as you mentioned), since i also noticed on the videos on gametrailer that bullets from your rockets are moving quite noticeably slower than the pc counterpart.

Yes, you can use all mutators, including speedfreak online. I just may not be too observant, but I haven't noticed any framerate issues. When you first enter a game, it can take a few seconds to load all the details. same thing when customizing the character, it takes a few secs before all the armor and background detail appear. that is annoying, and surprising since i loaded the game to me hard drive, but it doesn't affect game play.

But i mean, you cant have that mutator on by yourself, while all the others play without it?

Anyway, i read the ign review of ut3 for ps3, and he clearly stated they you will notice the mouse being innaccurate when using a usb mouse. As i thought :/ I also read somewhere that it is possible to make the mouse accuracy not being dependent on the framerate.

people who say 30 fps plays oke for ut3 should go to the doctor and test their eyes.. i have the game and it literly sucks that this game is locked at 30 fps.. anyone who says it's ok do not know anything about smooth gameplay for fps shooters...period..

it even sucks so bad since ut3 was announced as a game with 60 fps but in the end it was capped at 30..... what a joke...
even cod4 runs at 60 fps and anyone who have played that game knows what smooth frames is all about...
but eh some people do tend to ignore things even when it's 5 centimeter in front of them..
