Maybe they wanted x-box 360 version to have split-screen so 360 users won't feel so bad for getting theirs' 6 or more months later, with less maps and no modding. Still, they could have at least given us 2 player split, and 4 player split for them. I doubt that's the reason, that is just beyond assanine.

i have decided to go back to best buy and demand my money back. i will fight those jerks to the death until i at least get some store credit for a game i can play with an adjacent friend. i also feel deceived and dissatisfied, so in return i am not going to patronize Epic's product.

BBNJ23: you really can't compare a game like Haze to UT3, it's a Halo clone, UT3 is balls to the walls action.
You're absolutely right KriLL UT3 is balls to the walls action. Which makes this all the more frustrating and disappointing.

Haze may very well be a good game when its released, but anyone who thinks it will even be in the same league as UT3 is delusional. I'd personally rather play UT3 split screen through a patch or something then have to purchase yet ANOTHER FPS shooter just to be able to play with friends.

The Xbox 360 game Overlord came out with a patch specifically for split screen multiplayer. So it HAS been done. Just a matter of whether or not Epic wants to.

I'm pretty sure that's possible. It's just whether they're kind enough to do it now that it's out.

I too am planning to return mine and wait for a game that have split screen.
Very disappointed with a game that I paid $60 just for online with weak offline.

If you accidently purchased a mature rated game for a minor, then management will probably exchange or refund the game.

Reguardless, I am more mad about this being a GREAT GAME than I am about it not having split screen. UT3 is so close to the edge of perfection, it's a shame that people with a nice home theatre setup can't share the enjoyment of UT3 with their not so fortunate neighbors.

Especially with a 52" flat panel 1080p, 120hz Sharp Aquos LCD. It would be ridiculously expensive to buy two of those and two PS3's and mount them both side by side on full Klipsch surround sound speakers, just so you can laugh at your friend when they explode on screen and turn to watch their face and eyes turn red from frustration.

I doubt this too, but what else can I think of? It also shines a dark light on the absense of high profile reviews (IGN, Gamespot, gametrailers). I mean, did these guys not get this game at least a week before us? Hello! This is UT3, it should be a AAA title - I don't see this reflected in the review part. Anyway, this just illustrates that Epic should make a statement about this. I mean, what about us early addopters.

That being said I agree with the rest of your post. I really wanted to buy this game, and was going to get it for both the PC and the PS3. The main reason for buying both was the splitscreen on the PS3. I know I could just have my friend in the other room on the TV while I'm off on the computer, but it's just not the same. This single change will probably make me not buy the PS3 version.
Maybe I should have kept my mouth, since I don't care for split screen from my own perspective. But, I just feel strange about it. It would have been such a killer of a game if it had split screen, and it should have had split screen. Thats my point.

Hopefully this can be patched. Even if the patch involves lowering the resolution a good amount and upscaling, or some other way of allowing it to happen, it would still be very significant.
I would highly doubt this no being patchable. I mean, they could do this. If there are some technical barriers (which I still refuse to believe) than they should gimp the GFX or something in favour for split screen.

Exactly how I feel: SO close to perfection. Lack of split screen is the single thing holding me back from fully embracing this game. I think more developers need to start taking split screen into account when making their games. It is way too underutilized and underestimated. The demand is clearly there for it (just look at this thread).

Word. I would liked to show off this game sometimes with / too a friend. Now this option looks farther away then ever.
