Sony MDR-750 if you don't need a mic attached to it. Those are studio headphones for $99 and they sound great for games. I use them for music recording as well.

      Prices..

I have been using this headset for quite awhile now...

And the sound quality is amazing. It was kind of weird hearing surround sound through a headset but you can actually hear sounds infront and behind you. Also, the mic sounds really good as well. SO, if you are looking for a really good headset I recommend the Razer Barracuda HP-1. It's also pretty **** comfortable.

Steelsound 5H v2 is the best headset I'll ever get.. A tad pricy but really worth it.

I don't have the wireless/usb version, just the basic $19.99 pair that I bought at frys electronics..cheap, effective and work great..

by the way, it looks just like the $79 dollar one, just wired..
Yeah but you don't need a sound card with the $79 dollar one although the other parts are probably the same. I have used these for 8 hours straight (minus a bio break or two and to answer the door for pizza) playing WOW and its the only headset I've ever used that were very comfortable for an extended period of time.

The 5.1 on Medusa phones works great. Can't recommend them enough.

I'm just about to buy a second set myself as I managed to destroy the old ones

I was curious about the sennhieser headsets suggested by others but they don't provide specs. Anyone know a site that publishes the specs for the gaming headsets. I want to compare features of mine with their models in the event that I need to replace what I have.

I use Grado SR60's and they are superb at a good price.

crimsoncorpse: they don't list it's specs anywhere, bad sign.

Part of the reason I started looking elsewhere.

It does if you got 5 ears. Sneak into your town morgue and hack off a few extra's...

X-fi cards had a feature that makes stereo headphones surround, dunno how well it works since I don't have the card, 5.1 headphones are rubbish.

If you have never played with headphones you missing out. It enables you to hear things that you might have missed otherwise. You can pick out other players positions by hearing where there shots are fired. A must have for a FPS

So a lot of people still seem to recommend headPHONES for the most part. I would be interested in buying higher end Sennheiser headphones if I could get a good seperate microphone. Does anyone use the Zalman Microphone Attachment which can clip onto your headphone cord? Does it work well?
