rate and review the Warfare maps.

Just curious what you guys think of the Warfare maps. Some are great, some are horrible imo, compared to UT2k4 which all the maps were all relatively good (with the exception of Redplanet)

Best to Worst

Good:
1. Avalanche - great map,good balance, lots of vehicles, capping the side nodes is fun, plus drowning the nodes in the avalanche is a blast
2. Serenity - great atmosphere, levi is pointless tho
3. Torlan - classic
4. Dusk the alternate setup where the nodes middle nodes are required is amazing. 2-1-2 layout is a blast here, reminds me of old Dawn
5. Floodgate - love the setting and the use of Necris vehicles
6. Powersurge - generic, but fun map, very hectic
7. Downtown - love city setting

OK:

8. Onyx Coast - good map, but unbalanced, and matches dont last very long
9. Market District - no vehicles, zzz, but i love the city setting

10. Sinkhole - boring and small
11. Tank Crossing - too assault like and very difficult to play without a good team
12. Islander - what were they thinking? i dont find it fun defending a base the entire round. boring locale as well. Map is so bad i disconnect when it comes up

I stopped reading after you declared Red Planet a crappy map...

One of my personal reasons for liking floodgate a lot more is that the corridors and tight spaces for the nodes make it a little bit easier to land an impact hammer kill as it is somewhat easier to sneak up on someone . The use of the scavenger on that map is very nice.

i think if you asked most 2004 ONS players which map they hated most, by far Redplanet would take that award

Yeah, I liked Red Planet too. Of the new maps, I don't see Torlan becoming a classic this time around. I like OnyxCoast a lot; even if it is unbalanced (though I have seen plenty of wins from both ends), that's why you play an even number of rounds. I don't like Islander at all due to the node location.

Islander is fun! I most hate the WAR maps that are most like ONS maps. So, I seriously don't like Avalanche or Torlan... Just plain boring cruising maps across open terrain. Matches take forever and end up in stalemates.

The levi in Serenity saves a lot. Actually a great map.

I'll disagree with metsfan81 about Dusk. While the general layout is nice and the 2 unlinked nodes in the middle are a nice addition, the path leading in and out of there is a b**ch.
However, I think that all of the maps feel and play decently -to say the least- and I'd love to see some maps without the orb. You know, good old Onslaught. Nacher, what's so bad about ONS mate?
