The UT series is famous for it's mods, theres no problem with mods.

the mods will be as safe as previous installments. There have been cases where a mod contained a virus (unfortunately I could only think of one that did out of a good 9000), though this particular asshat did get a good whipping for it ^_^.

The most they could do would probably be randomly crashing your game.. but thats usually due to bad coding.. so just don't play those mods

if they release an exe then you'll have the same risk as running every other exe

if they release a zip or a utmod package then you'll be completely safe (assuming that there are no more exploits)
