Unless they're using the same cryptographic key everywhere to encrypt the CD key - in that case you can copy the encrypted key right from one engine.ini to another and have it still work...

You dont need to download or install gamespy but when you launch the game you will be required to create a new profile (in game) which is actually created and saved out at gamespy.

Nice that it's encrypted, and that it asks for it if there isn't one, since in UT(2) you could restore the registry entries on a new windows install and have the game work fine, now you still can and then enter your key. :>

    engine.ini

look for "EncryptedProductKey=" and delete the numbers after it.

next time you launch the game it will ask you for a new cd key.

What part of the ini is the cd-key in?

My friend had his copy of the game installed on my PC. I uninstalled it and re-installed my copy but it never prompted me to use a new CD-key. So the CD-key is stored somewhere in the ini. I already edited my .ini heavily and don't want to go back and have to do it all over again.

So which part of the config folder has the cd-key in it ? I'll just delete that instead.
Working...
