How do you play LAN without a internet connection?

Ok got 2 laptops offline out on holiday but want to play offline lan but we're restricted to deathmatch......

abit gay if you ask me seeing as we actually bought the game.

FFS so we tried setting up a server over LAN and he can't see my server :S Even though it's there

You should be able to play any gametype that you want. The laptop hosting the game should be able to set all the game parameters and start a Listen server.
