Is the manta really overpowered?

    Nope, I don't think it' s overpowered either.. and it's not a whole lot different then the original ut2004 manta.

    It DOES need to have it's sound cranked up majorlity though so you know it's around.

    If anything I'd like to see a damage reduction mod so all the weapons and vehicles can do less damage. if you were armored, a manta hit shouldn't always be 100% fatal, nd the same with glancing hits from other vehicles.

    I'd say a total player damage reduction of 20% less across the board might make the game a little less "die n spawn" and more "staying alive, grabbing health n powerups, and getting revenge".

      People have been complaining about the manta right from the start, before the stinger and before the game was released and warfare made available.

      The manta did have a very important role in vctf-suspense because of the map's layout. It could go anywhere really fast and drop from above almost anywhere in the map, avrils were far away and each team only had one scorpion.

      Their importance relatively to other vehicles seems greatly diminished in most warfare maps so far compared to suspense. I can't really say for other VCTF maps though, but in the campaign I don't remember a lot of mantas being present in all those maps.

        I know, actually I don't believe that this map could really give a good impression of UT3's gameplay. The manta was overpowered in the demo, but due to the odd map design. Not very representative for WAR gameplay, imo. Seems like you want to say the same though. ;p

          It just seems like players are dieing way to fast, hence my reduced player damage suggestion.

          Hop a board, fly a bit, a anythin from anyone hitting you is fatal. Yer knocked off, and before you can recover, you're hit again finishing you off.

          You don't want the hoverboards indistructable, but there should be SOME chance of recovering from a hit while on them, or at least escaping to locate more halth, or attacj your opponant.

            I wouldn't say the Manta is very overpowered, as they drop very easily, but they are powerful, but over the last few days I've noticed them being destroyed on sight, so I think players are balancing them out a bit now.

              I think it's overpowered, but so are many other vehicles. Quite frankly it and the Scavenger are the best vehicles for raping opponents, it's silly. But I'm not yet to the point where I am complaining about it. They're weak vehicles otherwise, and if you have enough distance between you and it you can seriously hurt it or take it out.

                Also, the manta would just bounce off Georges belly.(to bad he is gone)
