They should not resell that game. Most retailers don't, and I don't feel sorry for anyone that buys a used copy of a game with a serial key.

The fact that you even have to ask that question is giving you pause.

What is the right thing to do?

    Do it.

They made a mistake. I'm pretty sure you won't have much trouble with them no matter what.

At least in this country, the customer is king and gets kissed up to bigtime. If you went up on their customer service line and made a big enough nuisance of yourself, I bet there's a fair chance you could get your money back and the CE delivered anyway, even if you opened the game they sent you and played the heck out of it.

I've worked in a few customer service jobs in the past, and when the cursing starts, things get given away for free. And god help the service rep that doesn't smile and say "thank you, come again."

Just tell them you didn't realize it wasn't the CE until after you opened it.

On second thought don't take my word for any of that. I'd feel awful if they came and locked you up for trying to return an opened game. Trust your feelings. Do the right thing.

Ok I have no useful advice.

Another option - keep the copy you have and play it and ask play.com to refund to your account or to credit the difference between the copys.

games wiothout codes cannot be resold.... so i bet play would prefer it isnt opened.... also they may wait till they get your ciopy back before they send the correct order to you (unsure about that)

I'm not toally sure, but I have a feeling the cd key is not registered to your gs account, I'm pretty sure if you went to a friends house and logged him out you could log in as yourself.

I don't know for certainty but I have created multiple logins with just the 1 key I have with the game, I'm pretty sure there is no limit to the amount of names you can create.

well, i would ring them and say that you unwrapped it before you realised they stuffed up. Its still their fault and they have to cough up the goods - so if its unwrapped, how are they to know if you have been playin it? Also, is it wrapped in matierial you can re-wrap it yourself in? you could always just pull a sneaky one on them. If you dont do a good job wrapping it back up you can always say the same monkey who shipped you the wrong product must have also wrapped it, the incompetent lout.

1 thing tho - do you have to register an account to play the game even in single player? tied to your CD key? Cause then I wouldnt do it.

If not, I know what I would do: Install and play! If it wasnt for them stuffing you up you would be playing already. Its their fault, they can deal with it.

Your the one paying, you shouldnt have the short end of the stick.

BUT the problem is if you open it Play may not accept it, i assume it has a plastic rapper on it, if you break that they may feel they have to charge you for it. It sucks i know, personally its their fault you have to wait, when my Vanguard CE was delayed i believe the publisher asked to get standards sent out as an appoligy for the delay (too bad the standard arrived the same day as the CE because play were so slow to send it out). As much as it is frustrating you dont want to end up paying for 2. I wonder though, if you dont send it back, would they do anything? i mean its their own fault they made the mistake.
wait, you can't have two ppl online at the same time with the same cd key? what about at different times?

anyway, i would say just wait, if you've been waiting for months, or however long you've been waiting, what's another couple days or weeks?
