The CTF maps are the best in the game so far.

I think all the maps are good, but the quality in the CTF maps just astounded me. It makes the other maps look like garbage. VERY well thought out and playtested. What do you guys think so far?

I do really love the maps, in all the game modes. They all seem to have been worked on long and hard, and they all have decent gameplay and flow.

OmicronDawn and Vertebrate are surely the two most confusing maps ever made. They may be good maps, but it will take days or weeks of playing before you can actually fluently navigate in those. In both maps I had some serious difficulties of finding even a way out from our base... lol.

My only complaint about DM maps would be that in general they tend to bee too small. They end up in a spamfest on public servers with playercount anything more than 8-10, and every idiot is running their server with maxplayers 16-24.

I think OmicronDawn is deceptively simple...

thats the magic of unreal ed, in a few months we'll have tons of new maps, and within a year our hard drives won't be able to handle em all

Oh I don't know about that, I have a pretty big hd.

Omicron was confusing to me too, but then I remembered that when the UT demo came out, Coret was confusing to me .Though before long just about anyone could run the whole thing blindfolded forward and backwards.

I agree with Nacher, those two maps are hard to navigate. That is alleviated by playing them a few times, but still, those are the first two maps where I was actually glad for the "auto-arrow" feature.

OmicronDawn is basically Facing Worlds with slightly more complex bases, it doesn't take very long at all to get the hang of it. Vertebrae is a slightly different beast: a huge map with dozens of levels stacked on top of one another... yeah it's certainly a bit confusing at first. Have to say I like Vertebrae least too, it's just way too big.

Absolutely loved Strident though, with the beam that goes through the map and heals you for 10 every time you pass through it. It's cool, it's new, but it's not lame like putting a Darkwalker in a DeathMatch map.

OmicronDawn reminds me of Citadel. Very easy mad to navigate imo. Vertebrae/Coret on the other hand..

I never got to play th origional Coret, so this is all new to me, I suppose I
                      ll learn it soon enough.

Think I might be able to open it in UnrealEd and maybe take a top--down/bird's-eye-view?

Oh wait, not Omicron Dawn, I like that map. I'm thinking of another map, a WAR map.

Definitely. Vertebrae is quite complex. I know it'll take a while for me to nail down the fastest paths for moving around it.

Anyone remember the name of the map in the UT99 map pack that Omicron is based on?
My complaint about the maps is their lack of flow. The center of Omicron is good, but the flag room is not that great. The area by the rocket launcher is like another dimention, doesn't have any flow at all with the rest of the map.

I see that they redid a bunch of UT99 maps, but why not improve them? Instead they added a bunch of eye candy brushes that restrict movement, about as bad or worse than UT2003 did.

                              1) Omicron isn't based on any UT map that I know of.
