    Any potential for world competitions?

    UT99 was a huge league play success. It had national competitions, world competitions, hell it made the cut for SOOO many LANs. So I guess my question is do you guys see UT3 doing the same.
    UT2k3 DM was there for a bit with F4tal1ty owning everyone (until my buddy Zulg finally beat him :-D), but then 2k4 came out and everyone played Onslaught, with some League play, but it never really made the cut for anything big like WCG or ESWC.
    I played a lot of competitive UT back in the day, and I'd LOVE to see it in lights around the world again.

    Lets hope that it does, it all hinges on whether the competative community flocks to it or not, this year has been a bit thin on proper team based FPS games, so maybe UT3 will carve out a nice niche in the scene, heres hoping.

      if this year has been 'a bit thin' then i don't want to know how a previous year has been 'fatter', given that this year we have these decent team based fps that came out: Enemy Territory QW, CoD4, UT3, TF2, Crysis (which I never thought would have a good MP)

        F4tal1ty is overrated i know hes a good player but i know people who are better but dont play to make money out of it.

        I think Quake Wars or Crysis will have evryone playing more than Unreal Tournament 3 because Ut3 deathmatch or capture the flag arn't that great i mean they are trying to make out its some kind of anti spawn device which stops enemy troops deplying on the battlefield. Isnt a real tournament anymore.

        Crysis doesnt have a too great multiplayer but i can see it being more popular than UT3.

          Crysis will never be as popular as UT3 because of the simple fact that its unplayable for 99% of the audience in its current state, its a pc-killer and you cant get a decent, playable fps with high graphics even if you just bought a 3000$ rig, the complete opposite of UT3/COD4/QuakeWars/TeamFortress2. and to be honest its gameplay isn't that good too.

          Since there is no real competition for UT3 in the duel and TDM genere i dont see why it wouldent be even more succesful then UT99 in the competitive scene, when Quake3 provided a competition, or in UT2K4 where it was Quake4 and painkiller, It's UT3 or nothing right now, and comparing UT3 to any of the above games in depth and competitive potential is insulting towards UT3 so imo the future is very bright.

          hehe =]

          actually i think GitzZz was dominant in UT2K3 aswell altough i dont remember fatality and gitz playing against each other, i do remember lauke beating fatality to the zero in some show-match in the early days of UT2K3 though.
