    Last concern about the stinger.

    Hi,

First thing, congratulation Epic Games for the beta fixes (Especially eye height). My intention here is not to bring chaos on the boards. So let's just say that this is a personal opinion. Epic Games has made a lot of changes from the 2k* games and that's a good thing. I am always up for a good change, and I am especially up for a good & fair balancing.

To get right to the point, I really like the Stinger, and it's alt fire, but the primary seems to be dealing really well in most situations and delivers a lot of damage. I played online a couple of hours yesterday and had a blast. Though, any one that's minimally capable of aiming with the stinger will pull kills. Since the primary is hitscan (Instant hit) it makes things easier and a weapon of choice.

My 2 cents. If Epic is working on the problem then don't mind the thread please.

EDIT: Here are some technical facts for those that don't see why the primary fire more powerful than the others weapons of the game.

1)The stinger primary will bring permanent damages when your opponent shots you. Leaving you to a low health status, you're a very easy target searching for health after each stinger fight.
2)The stinger primary is hitscan, so it can be really favourable with lag.
3)The stinger primary takes less effort than the secondary and the other projectile weapons. You just need to hold the fire button constantly and aim until your ammo count is empty, or you died.

    Which problem?

There's at least another 5 weapons that are as equally as powerful in their own situations.

If you've got the mini, there's almost a 100% chance that you will take someone out bearing any other weapon in the game. The mini is WAY overpowered, no doubt. I have *never once* gone head to head with a mini user in UT3 and WON. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's true. I usually kill 5 or 6 people (or more) with the mini when I get ahold of it before someone takes me out.

I rarely call for game changes of this magnitude, but that mini has GOT to be nerfed.

I think people who call people noobs because they use the Stinger are noobs. I prefer the impact hammer over the mini.

I prefer most guns over the mini as well. The mini isn't an altogether fun weapon to use. It just happens to be very overpowered. I'm definitely not blaming the player using it, I'm blaming the weapon. :-P

Nice playing with you last night btw.

Seconded. The minigun wreaks havoc at the moment. When facing somebody with a minigun, your best chance of winning is switching to the minigun yourself; if you spend too long dodging around trying to hit them with a combo or a rocket, you'll be down in a couple of seconds if they have above-par aim.

Let's just talk about weapons versus weapons without the "noob" stuff.

Why? If we're going to beat a dead horse, we may aswell have some fun, call people name and throw ad hominems around liberally.

Yeah, it's not a noob weapon...it's just overpowered. It needs about a 15% reduction or more imho.

Lol, i cant stand it anymore. And again: Stinger is not overpowered. You are to bad to get a solution to avoid gettin killed by this weapon. Thats all. And if its easy to kill someone, he is bad, too. End of story.

It is a minigun! Do you know what a minigun is?

Do YOU know what it is? A minigun is something large and heavy, mounted on tripods or vehicles. It's not something that people normally run around with while jumping like rabbits and without any knockback effect on top of that.

The realism argument is completly irrelevant, as everything about the stinger minigun and the game in general is firmly anchored in the realm of fantasy.

It's merely a gameplay issue, and good weapons require skill both to avoid them and to kill effectively with them.
Anyone can easily kill proficiently with the stinger minigun no matter how hard you guys are trying to convince yourselves that you are just skilled at using it.

Of course, we could all just use the minigun all the time and play a boring game of whoever see the other first wins and see how fun it is.
