Last concern about the stinger.

    Yes, well in spite of all this Stinger nerfing discussion, I would just like to say to Epic, Congradulations and Thank You very much. This patch list looks very good, and I hope that as it goes through it's beta cycles it only gets better!

    The rocket launcher is the easiest to use because it has splash (it even has a simi useless lock on mode).

    In order to have a decent time to kill with the stinger, your aim has to be good. Its not that easy to constantly hold your cross hair over a target that is randomly moving around while you yourself are also moving.

    All this talk about no effort, it's not exactly easy to aim this thing well people move so fast that it can take a while to kill someone with it. If they moved like complete newbs then yeah this thing would be too deadly but with people moving around like they do I often get a rocket at my feet while trying to kill them. Mid range it's pretty good but still it's not SUPER effective. Maybe in other gametypes but for DM and TDM I think it's fine.

    Ease of use != power. Just because you get killed by it a lot does not mean a whole lot about it's strength. I'm not saying the stinger is weak. It's powerful and versatile. But it's relatively easy (for me at least) to own someone coming at me with the stinger. Just bust a triple rocket in his face or a single direct flak hit will put a quick end to the fight.

    I'm with you, Kantham. Stinger is most feared weapon for me, too.

    So how exactly is the stinger overpowered?
    Its much easier to use than any other weapons. But it does hurt.

    That's because I run from it out of respect for it's power, and come back when it's out of ammo. That doesn't promote fun games though.

    Like I said, it's leveling out now, but it will become more apparent as systems get better.

    Those are my stats and all I play is DM.

    Less than 10% (200 out of 2200) of my deaths are from the stinger. I must be super awesome at dodging stingers, but Im not as good as this guy:

    Thats an even lower percentage of deaths from the stinger... wait those are your stats right?

    So how exactly is the stinger overpowered?

    I was referring to the post I made in November, prior to the one he was quoting.

    At a glance the top 10 players now are primarily onslaught players, barring a few, which would explain why. I don't use it nearly as much in onslaught either. DM and CTF on the other hand...

    I would consider the stinger a 2nd-tier weapon. It has its uses, like easily knocking players of hoverboards, but it's definitely not some overpowered top choice weapon.
    Shock rifle = shock kills plus combo kills, that makes it 4th for spirit.

    1v1 inherently favors shock because of it's versatility.

    Of the top 10 players in global stats for pubs, the stinger is in the top 3.

    It requires the user to simply hold the trigger down and trace an opponent. It's easy to use.

    Numerically by dps and raw damage, it does way more damage than it's predecessors.

    There are enough avrils in warslaught (can't really speak for vCTF). Use the teleporters, and/or spawn at base nodes. Stop spawning at default front lines. You can port to those after you get an avril, at the cost of only a few seconds.

    It will only get worse as people start turning better frames. Player competitive players with top of the line systems will teach you that.

    If you're on the hover board, a good player will knock you down with the stinger, and finish you with the free sniper shot. A damage decrease though, won't change that, because you are rendered immobile. That can only be fixed by putting less stingers in weapon lockers.

    Go look at all of the top ranked player and any of the good duel players (or any other good player who might not be highly ranked because of the way the ranking system works) and see how many kills and deaths they get with the stinger.

    I guarantee it will not be in their top 3 for either kills or deaths.

    If you are dieing to the mini more than other weapons, you suck.
    If you have more kills with the mini than other weapons, you need to use something more effective.

    Go look at player stats. Most people get the majority of their kills and deaths from the rocket launcher, flack cannon, and shock rifle... and thats WITH the stinger being used as a finishing weapon.

    How can you say the stinger is overpowered when there is a HUGE amount of evidence that it causes less kills then at least 3 other weapons?
