    UT3 nitpicks

First of all UT3 is great imo, but there are too many bugs and issues that I can't overlook.

    What I didn't like about UT3:
    1) Canadians like me didn't get a printed manual it seems.
    2) Campaign is seriously bugged, it crashed during the opening cinematic, and when I changed the .ini so it stops crashing, it stutters during the movie (this is not a hardware issue) then it crashes while loading the first map.
    3) Multiplayer is bugged. I get disconnected, and logged out almost every map I play, and I CTD once (for 2.5hrs of playtime, 1 CTD is a lot). This may be a firewall issue, but since I have no idea what ports UT3 uses, I can't fix it.
    4) Why have so many things from games like UT2k4 been discarded? Specifically Assault mode.

So, I am stuck playing instant action until the next patch comes out. This is by no means a bad review, you have done a lot of positive things with the game, including no copy protection and a Linux client in the future, if only more games would follow your lead with those 2 things. Hopefully Epic can get a patch out quickly, although I would have thought it wouldn't be this buggy at release. I'm probably just paranoid, but my DVD label was UT3_RC7, I hope I didn't get a beta RC build or something.

sounds more like problems specific to your setup than actual game bugs. I have experienced none of what you stated.

Like I said, I can understand if I need to open a port for MP, but at least make it easy to find said port.

I can't see why the campaign bug is my fault, the games works fine in every other mode and I can watch 720p movies fine in any comression.

I can't believe that Canadians don't get a manual.... is there a good reason for this?? Mark?

i am running behind a linksys router and have nothing forwarded or open. If you were attempting to host then i would think you would need to open some ports. Did you try to open all ports and see if that fixes the problem?

I'm not opening up all my ports, that would completely defeat any security I have.

I believe it has something to do with having to print french materials in Canada, so instead they just ship a cd with a pdf on it.

i am not saying open them permanently, just try for a round to see if that fixes the problem, if it does then you know that you need to forward specific ports.
