          I don't think I could make this map, my picture of what made it great is too vague now (time, the great healer). I just remember that the heroics as an FC were particularly rewarding on it, probably due to the two hour stand offs. When you cap the last flag in a situation like that... That's about as good as gaming gets I think. Insta just intensifies the rush.


          I have to hand it to Epic. I've heard people slag off various default 200X maps no end since the games came out. It must be pathological. I've had better gaming experiences from them than almost anything else anyone has made, straight from the box. Geothermal is usualy art in motion, exceptional flow. Chrome, probably the most slated, gives intense FC runs, love it. Citadel is just spot on for everything. Maul separates the men from the boys with a few decent opponents, it just works. I used to hate Magma at 1 FPS, got a new card and started to enjoy it, great map but I missed the boat with it so I can't really comment. The point is, if past UTs are anything to go by, the vast amount of negative BS on the forums is to be swept aside (as the mods are quite adept at doing). UT3 has just taken FPS to a new level. The only thing to dislike are a few missing features in the UI. We can expect patches, tweaks and content in droves so if you don't buy this game you must be certifiable.

          Back to (the default UT3) maps, I think it's way too early to say much except I think it'll be more of the same all round, i.e. ownage. I simply haven't had enough experience in them though I'm loving VCTF and even NW

            ^ exactly. It's a shame that there's very little variety to the maps that appear online... it's always Faceclassic, or Bridge of fate

              I'd like to see a true remake of Lava Giant in an expansion. Something very true to the feel of the original. That map was incredible.

                Can you still hammer jump with the flag up where the belt is and hide? I think it was the belt if I remember right. You know, up above the flag area.

                  That area is a little different now. I'm not sure the shield belt is still up in there. I'll have to look.

                          I took a look. In the Flagroom of Hydro16 in UT99 was a Minigun with 3 Clips of ammo, and one level up in the roof was the shield belt.

                          Is it in Hydrosis now too?

                          OMG!!! IM getting the game on friday, im so f***** Happy!

                            I looked, the ceiling area is still there and the shield belt is up in there. The LAYOUT is different though and the hidden area isn't as obvious. I didn't see it the first time I looked. Not sure if you can still hammer jump up there.

                            Your best bet would be to teleport up there, grab the shield and then get the flag instead of getting the flag and then hammer jumping up there.

                              Yes and Yes. Two ammo pickups, not three, but that's more than enough with the new (overpowered) mini. Seriously it's REALLY hard to escape from that thing. I think a 10% power reduction is in order...but I think Epic kinda has a stance against changing weapon stats after the game is launched.

                              As I stated above, the shield belt is in a slightly different place, but it's still up in the ceiling there. It appears that most players online right now have no idea it's up there. Good deal for us vets...
