    About sound and hearing your opponents

    Now, I have a decent sound card(X-Fi) and in other games including UT2k4 I could hear everyone coming for the most part.

    Now, I NEVER hear a manta(and why cant I crouch when I do see them coming and survive btw?). I die so often and have absolutely NO clue what happened. Would be nice to get some sort of idea as to how you died.

    Is the sound issue the same for others? Did I miss a setting somewhere?

                Im so tired of dying and never even knowing where is coming from. We had a scrim last night and I died so many times and never heard or saw the person/vehicle. There needs to be better sound!

                  I love picking up a AVRiL and stand and wait while a manta speeds towards me, thinking I haven't seen him and I'm a cheap kill, I shoot a missile a split second before they hit me.

                    That radius of the sound around the Manta is just as big as the other vehicles; it's just that at the speed the manta goes, you begin to hear it about 1/20th of a second before you die.

                    Really, the Manta needs to be able to be heard from at least 200 feet away.

                      Oh, and it would be nice to have Suspenses' spawnpoint(near the tank) doorway closed a hair so Mantas cant come in and spawn kill as I have seem them do sooo many times now.

                      What happens when you use the EMP on the IH on a manta? I have never heard of this strategy.

                        Actually the spawn at the manta is as wide and the manta would still be able to get in sideways if you made it less wide, it has some kind of blocking volume inside though, vehicles can't get in but people can.

                          bNoConsoleDeathMessages=false

                          Should start to let you know how you died, as far as not hearing the manta well I don't know what they were thinking, perhaps they had some play tests and found that the impact hammer was too powerful when you could hear the manta coming? Or that mantas could not really get anything done because the scorpion was too effective against it when you could hear the manta?
