Figured out how to unlock characters

this is for the full version
very simple go here
My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Config
open the UTCustomChar.INI
scroll down and u will see
Characters=(CharName=
and scroll to the right for each one till you see were it say
bLocked="true change it to false and there u go
It also unlocks the Necris models

http://forums.epicgames.com/showpost...&postcount=117 shows actual characters you can unlock, the bulk of the "characters" in that file is just one of the 5-6 unique once with a slightly different armor setup (covering the face most often since they have the face of another character), no character portrait and no description, just unlock the unique once and change the armor pieces ingame, no need to fill your screen with clones.

thats nice and all, but i wont be doing it. i like to do it the "hard" way lol

2 of the characters you can only get "the hard way" by pre-ordering at a certain store, so you'll need 2 pre-orders. And one character you can't unlock ingame no matter what you do. Check the link I posted above.

It's also useful after re-installs, I did the UT2004 campaign but didn't want to do it all over again when I re-installed the game/windows etc.

So can the so-called "exclusive" characters be unlocked via editing the .ini, or have they somehow prevented that if you don't have the pre-order code?

thanks ill check it out.. all i looked at was the necris models, so i wasnt aware the others were clones with diff armor.

Can't you type 'unlockallchars' in the console to unlock everything? I don't have the full game, but on the demo I got a popup saying new characters unlocked, so I presume it works in the retail version.

Yup that works, it unlocks the necris and the two preorder models..nice find the INI trick will unlock the rest
