I dunno how it looks in UT3, but in UT2 there was no distinction what so ever, a few servers had a mod that added a floating speech bubble when you typed, but that wasn't common.

Felon, Asil, try reading my posts, you might find that your questions/points have already been answered/addressed. Perhaps multiple times even, people seem to be struggling with reading comprehension here.

I've simply left mechanic, intent and purpose out of the thread (even if other people want to keep bringing it up). I'm just saying I don't like the entire art design, and using this example to show that it's attracting people who think the game is Tony Hawk: Unreal Skateboarding Tournament now.

I understood what you meant, so there is no "reading comprehension" issue here. But I simply found your argument against the aesthetic of the hoverboard so ridiculous that I had to treat it as an ironic statement... which it is, but probably not in the way that you think it is.

As long as theres a high pitched "Ha ha ha! Wipeout!!" taunt in the speech pack I dont see a problem with the hoverboard jockeys.

To me the HOVERBORD (U ALL GET IT RIGHT!!) is Epic's anser to Tribes Vengence's Skii mode. And the grapple, just like in Tribes Vengence, just like what me and Lorin-Slasher was saying on another topic...

Personally I think the hoverBoard sux for VCTF. I am a big fan of tranzlocators, they get you around just as fast or faster and you can frag peeps with them if you have the skilz. I see no problem for ONSLAUGHT or what ever they are calling it now, but it is a bad idea for VCTF. Many of the reasons are listed in this thread and a lot of them are valid. To play only to skate is stupid and I agree "just fragg them until they leave" but when they are on your team thats not a possibility. Which is where the problem arises with that statement but it is what it is and epic can be very bull headed about things so reality is they are there and the only way to dump them is to mute them out. Which I will be doing as soon as I can get the game. I will write a tranzlocator that replaces it.

as far as what to do without the hover board ..... this should answer that question yea

Here's an honest simple question. Why why why do people call it a skateboard or snowboard? There are no wheels for skating, and no snow contact for snowboarding. You are hovering on a board...on a hoverboard. BTW, the hoverboard will rock for getting back into the action faster on huge maps, and adds another dimension to the game. People have never used anything like this before and because they feel like noobs with it, they think it shouldn't exist. Well guess what. IT DOES!! GET USED TO IT! Because it sure as hell isn't going anywhere.

LMAO i was jk when i called it a floating snowboard, it really a floating wakeboard :P
