I already posted it on the other page..

There's a time and a place for The hoverboard especially with huge maps "warefare" and limited vehicles... just link on for a free ride

I think they added it to the game so ps3 users could get use of the ps3 six axis. But i dont mind it if i had a problem with it i simply just wouldnt use it

Ok, fair enough, I really meant it as "just another example" of why I think it's lame, that would be the operative part of the post. I had already posted in a bunch of other threads expressing my opinion on the aesthetics of the board. Perhaps I should edit the first post.

Yes, please refer back to one of my other posts where I tell everyone that I'm not talking about the gameplay function of the hoverboard.

Unreal/UT has never been silly... but you are right, it's leaning that way with the hoverboard.

Okay... the purpose of the hoverboard is to move a player from point "A" to point "B" quicker than running there or dodge jumping there. If you have ever been stranded at a node in ONS, what are your options? I'd rather hoverboard back to a useful area rather than suicide... but maybe that's just me.

So. if you were thinking of ways to move a player quickly across a large map, what idea would YOU have come up with? A jetpack? Roller blades? A friendly guide dog that lets you ride on his back?

Positive people offer solutions and think of alternates. Negative people fret over the problem and never offer anything other than complaints. Please categorize yourself accordingly.

Here's an honest simple question. Why why why do people call it a skateboard or snowboard? There are no wheels for skating, and no snow contact for snowboarding. You are hovering on a board...on a hoverboard. BTW, the hoverboard will rock for getting back into the action faster on huge maps, and adds another dimension to the game. People have never used anything like this before and because they feel like noobs with it, they think it shouldn't exist. Well guess what. IT DOES!! GET USED TO IT! Because it sure as hell isn't going anywhere.

              I like it ~shrug~

It seems a bit **** to be happy with the mechanic, happy with the purpose, happy with the intent, but throw a hissy cos it's a skate-I-mean-snow-I-mean-hoverboard.

Felon, Asil, try reading my posts, you might find that your questions/points have already been answered/addressed. Perhaps multiple times even, people seem to be struggling with reading comprehension here.

I've simply left mechanic, intent and purpose out of the thread (even if other people want to keep bringing it up). I'm just saying I don't like the entire art design, and using this example to show that it's attracting people who think the game is Tony Hawk: Unreal Skateboarding Tournament now.

EDIT: Ok, this original post didn't fully articulate my feelings, I hope by including the following quote with it, more people will understand what I'm saying:

                    Road, youre tedius,
it seems that because something new has been added, all the old thins has been banned.

Do anyone who put the hoverboard on the level deleted your weapon? Oh no wait! Is still there, in your hand, still you can kill everyone, still this is a fighting game, but now is cooler in a newer perspective. I you are not able to get funny with that, keep playing like in the old games. Nobody forces you to pay attention to that. Let us live.
I have been making frags for 20 years, and now i can keep making them, but be cool at the same time, so is good for me.

If the server where you were was a public one, simply kill that players. Nobody can complain on a public server.

Have some of you lot round here been using the xloc too much and fried your sense of humour glands?

So what if you're pegging it to the enemy flag and in the distance you see some guy trick-jump over the barrier and land on his face?
That's pretty funny tbh, be it in a game or in a town centre somewhere.

Oh-Em-sweet baby geebus, it's a demo, have a laugh, and enjoy yourselves you miserable lot.
Does it matter that some guys are bouncing around like bunnies in a DM game?
Is it really getting you down enough to warrant having a go at Epic for putting the boards in?

Now personally, as soon as I figured out that tricks don't actually make you any less of a sitting duck I pretty much stopped bothering with them, but the last thing I'm going to do is go on a Demo server & get upset because someone else isn't playing in the way I want them to do, as long as they aren't using evil-hax, or course.

It's a game. With guns. But also with ker-azy hoverboards. Oh, and some vehicles. Did I mention the guns? They're pretty cool also.

Its better then a camping sniper sniping in CTF, then as soon as he hears a gunshot in his direction, he right clicks and spawns right by ammunition

Well, since I consider myself a top tier ONS player... I'll answer that.

~suicide (or bind a key accordingly)

Much faster than a hover board.. and then you can go straight to the node you need to.

Now, if I were to have my druthers, and wanted to build a solution that doesn't involve offing yourself every time you are stranded ;-).. I would actually make it so if you killed yoursleff, then you are hindered in some way! (maybe be forced to go back to the core only or something) Then, I would build some kind of solution that allows you to get back in the fight if you are stranded (other than the hover board), but not right away... because one *should* be hindered for losing his vehicle or becomming stranded. ONS is a team event.. and peeps should work as a team to get people in action. Howz bout these solutions in the event that suicide is not an option (or a bad option):
                              - Voice chat your buddy on the manta... "Manta pickup, node 3! stat!"
                              - The ability to call/radio in a pickup chopper or something.. .something that
represents more a real/unreal type of scenerio. You could tell the chopper what node to take you to.

These two minor changes, would add much depth to the game in my opinion... again:
                              - punish suicide users in some way (not sure how)... maybe a delay, then
spawn at the core or something.
                              - The ability to call/radio in a pickup/chopper (or the better option of requesting a manta pickup.

Now, I realize that this not how the game is played anymore... thats just what I *would* have done.

Ultimately, I hope I get many a chance to take out hoverboarders mid-trick!
