For some strange reason the new one relates somehow to Quake - At least in my eyes. And I hate that.

kewl...nice work!! ...I pwned it a bit with 'one-step photo fix' to bring out the highlights...hope you don't mind!!! ...come to think of it, do you have all the sperate layers saved?? --you might just have something here! I have something in the works for just the Circle-U logo itself and would be interested to see how the two compliment each other...

Keep the new logo. Its a new, cutting edge game. Ties with the past are great, but things do need to change. I think the logo currently does a great job of merging the games together into this "third" (fourth... cough) installment

Here's the ORIGINAL ORIGINAL: http://www.unreal.com/ (this is what I actually had in mind)...I prefer silver and like the existing red/black/silver color patterns and think we should ditch the existing CIRCLE-U for a 3-D version of this one...personally, I think it's VASTLY superior, but you be the judge...
