    Upgrade Advice

    Hello all,

I'm not new to PC building or Unreal Tournament, though I haven't built too much recently, and have lost track of all the advancements in technology with graphics cards, processors, multiple cores, etc. I thought I'd post my current system specs on here, to see what the general population reccomends as far as an upgrade. I'd like to avoid a complete upgrade, as I built this system just last summer for around two grand, but i'd like to be able to play at 1680x1050 with 60fps (i'm sure everyone would) and I'm willing to save up for a few weeks before release, to put some extended life in this thing.

    Current specs:

    Pentium 4 D 3.4GHz
    ATI Radeon X1900XT (512MB)
    4 250GB SATA II Drives (1TB)
    2GB DDR RAM (PC5400... I think)
    Audigy ZS Sound Card
    22" ViewSonic LCD (1680x1050)
    Windows Vista Ultimate (bleh)

I've asked some other people about it, and they said my CPU, though older, should not be a bottleneck, despite the game being able to support up to 4 cores, and i'm still running a P4D. The board I have does support C2D CPU's and even Quad Core (with a BIOS flash), but i'd like to avoid upgrading the CPU. The board supports ATI crossfire... so SLI is most likely out of the question, I assume. Is a quick fix for 60fps an 8800GTX, or could I maybe pull it off with two ATI cards in crossfire (never used it before) to match that?

    Thanks for your input!

I would say go with 2 X1900XTs (or possibly better) in crossfire... it would save you alot of money.. since the 8800GTX is pretty pricy.
