I need a cheap PC that will run UT3

The one I have right now ran everything flawlessly up until Doom 3 came out. Now it won't even run UT3 at all. Can anyone recommend a prebuilt system that runs UT3 decently that won't set me back $1000?

The 8600 wont give you great performance, and the E2160 isnt much better than an E6300. I'd prefer something a bit more higher spec, thats for sure.

If you're just wanting the game playable on mid-level detail I think that rig would do fine. Hell, I've got this demo running on a second PC, a single core p4 3.2 with a radeon x1650 PRO running this game consistently 20-35 FPS. Really only dips below 30 in Suspense. The DM maps stay pretty solid around 30.

Thanks for the feedback. But my issue is I'm a poor college student who lives on his own. Do you know of a system that has these specs that doesn't cost much more? I guess a more direct question would be how many FPS could I expect with this system as compared to the specs you've suggested?

Bang for buck I'd suggest an amd system with an ati 512mb HD2600xt graphics card with the fastest cpu you can afford.

Well, my problem is that my current PC has a motherboard with very limited compatibilities. Here's the current specs though:

AMD Athlon 3200+
ATI Radeon 9600
1G RAM

In order to replace any one of these parts I'd have to get a new motherboard. Which I'd want a new motherboard anyways since mine is only AGP compatible. In other words I just need a whole new system. And I'd build it myself but the last time I built my own PC was this one 2 years ago. A lot has changed since then and I'd be afraid I'd buy incompatible products. I figure I'll just pay slightly more to have someone like tigerdirect build it for me to ensure everything works well together.
