UT3 Linux Client Not Ready for Retail

It won't be in the box this time (sorry, this is a deadline problem, not a political decision), but we'll make sure there's a downloadable Linux installer that works with the retail Windows disc. If there's a later print run, we'll see about adding the Linux installer to it.

The only indication is that it only be ready for the gold version of the dvd pressing. That doesn't mean it won't be ready to download on the day of release. Usually the download is small since a majority of the files are already on the dvd anyway and are platform agnostic.

Well the game boots sop at least I am better off than some....

But the menus are not fine.... the lack of AA in any other OS than Vista... server browser a mess...

So, linux version won't be on the DVD !!!!????????

Even if it is delayed, it would be good to delay the windows version too, I want to buy the dvd WITH the linux installer...
(or make another dvd special linux, not only by downloading something)

I dunno, the 2k4 beta demo wasn't this buggy. Then again, they'd already worked out the major issues with UE2 with 2k3, so that was more on the order of a content preview than a beta release.

I hope for all our sakes you're right...would hate to see a UT3 release marred by all these bugs & UI issues.

Hence why we got ready with some windows boxes to support the game with no issues on launch. If a customer asks to move over to a linux server upon release of the linux support for the game they will be able to. At least we will be able to offer the game upon public release, even if we had to go get some windows boxes ;P
