What would I need to upgrade on my PC?

I built this system about a year and a half ago and just wondering what I would need to upgrade to get UT3 running at some good FPS

    AMD Athlon 64 - 3000+ 2.5 GHz
    2 GB RAM
    GeForce 6800 GS - 256 MB

I probably need to upgrade my Motherboard so I can handle a dual core processor and definatly a new Graphics card...
Any suggestions? I really don't want to spend a lot of cash seeing as this game is the only reason for me to upgrade. The demo runs OK with 50 screen rendering or whatever its called. And runs horribly slow on 100%.

well you will be able to play the game, but you really need an overhaul. I personally would be inclined to go for a decent GFX card over the cpu I have a low AMDx2 (2.4) and a 8800GTS 640 and the gfx made one hell of a diff. Bioshock and the demo play on full settings (minus the AA trick) on 1440x900 res

    hope it helps

By the looks of it the Athlon 64 4000+ is your max upgrade for that socket. Athlon 64 4000+ @ 2400Mhz stock(San Diego).

      Recommended System Requirements

      * 2.4+ GHZ Dual Core Processor
      * NVIDIA 7800GTX+ or ATI x1300+ Video Card

I can run it @ 1680x1050 with max in game settings, 6x AA, 16X AF high quality enabled, temporal AA quality, and high quality mip-map with an X1950XT 512MB and a dual core X2. They no longer make those video adapters though(use to cost $250 new retail). You might be able to snag one on ebay though.

        Dual core at a minimum

and an x1950gt at a minimum

you can get an x1950gt for around $100, an amd x2 for like $70 and a socket am2 motherboard for like 60.

Im running an x1950gt and x2 right now (both overclocked) and I run 1024x768 all highest settings and get no lag.

Thanks a bunch for the help!
By the looks of it the AMD 4000+ is about $150 on eBay. My motherboard right now has socket 754. Better off just getting a new motherboard and processor by the sounds of it..

I have AMD XP 3000+ OC'd to 2.4GHZ and GeForce 8800GT 320MB & 1GB RAm. Demo runs fine at 1680x1050. I run Bioshock and Team Fortress 2 at max settings get 40-50FPS.

Hmm so maybe just a new video card would do the trick?

You will see a big increase no matter which way you upgrade. My dads graphics card (the same you have) runs the game fine on a 2800 single core AMD with 1.25gb's of ram all high settings. But yes you need all 3 upgrades, cpu mobo and video card.

****. The prices for those are outrageous. Maybe I should just wait until it comes out for the XBOX 360.

As I said you can play it full detail with an x1950gt which is $100
