So You're Moving?

I unistalled UT2004 last night. It took a little while to get the feel for UT3, but it was the same thing going from UT to UT2003.

I will - slowly over time - migrate from 2k4 to UT3. Why slowly over time ? Because my clan - FnG - will migrate slowly over time as well, as each member gets UT3 at their own leisure. So, for the foreseeable future, I'll have both games installed, and both will see play.

I'll be purchasing a copy, but most of my time will likely go to my education, other responsibilities, and Gears of War on PC.

I will play all 3 games. Each has their own positives that the other doesn't. And none are too ugly to look at either (yes, even UT99 looks great, but that's because of it's unique visual style)

Going from UT99 to UT3 altough I don't think I will totally turn my back on 99. But I have to say UT3 rocks!

Never got into 2004 to much, I won't be missing it.

Other than when I map for it, I haven't played UT2004 much over the past year. FEAR and BF2142 have been played more often here on my studio LAN for a while now.

So I will be moving to UT3 as soon as it ships.

I doubt that I will get much online play time though, I'm doing UE3 dev work for a game studio and that eats up almost all of my time...

Is the PC community going to be big for this game? I was disappointed to find out that UT2K4's community dwindled rapidly.

Also I hope last man standing won't be empty like in UT2k4.

Only time will tell, but I'm sure that initially there will be a lot of servers and players.

Personally I feel that the mapping community will see a significant decrease, simply because creating maps in UE3 is considerably more difficult and time consuming.

Might move if there is a retromod. Otherwise I'm not moving from '04. Love the engine and the weapon changes, just can't stand to lose my wings.

After playing UT3 I doubt I'll ever touch UT2004 again. Actually I know I won't.

Well, I'll miss some of the 2k4 mods. Like Alien Swarm! Woo!

And as soon as Gem Feeder and Slavemaster make it into UT3, I'll miss them, too. And Elimination TE!

But core UT gameplay? I'm a UT3 native.
