Unreal Engine 3 manual for the public?

In one of the heated crossfire discussions between Epic and you-know-who, Mark Rein mentioned that they're finishing up a 1,000+ page manual for the Unreal Engine 3. Does anyone know if this will be a "public" manual or only for licensed developers?

      Um... no I don't.

That said, the C.E. is coming with videos again, and there are two books from 3dBuzz... although I suspect they're not free.

for anyone that doesn't know, he's talking about SK lawsuit/countersuit/counter-countersuit.

        SK being Silicon Knights.

chances are good, those are for licensed devs... though there's also a good chance they have something (smaller) for the public, if not as a downloadable, then as part of UEd3 (help files).

1,000+ page is probably the game design document. I had to write up a 50 page game design doc for a school assignment, and let me tell you it was horrid .

Game Design Documents are for in house use reference while creating the game.

Nope, it's not a GDD. It's documentation for the Unreal Engine. Plus a GDD is written BEFORE a game is made, not after. XD

Well as much as I would like to have the complete editor in my hands right now then say a few weeks from now. It would be nice but I was also expected to be playing a game called Unreal Tournament 2007 a year ago! LOL So Epic has already tried all of our patience... Whats a few more week gang?

He meant two books, iirc. Also, he said that when UT3 will be released they'll open UE3 section of UDN.

                • [bu]hal`: Here's one for Mark Rein... any plans to open up the UE3 UDN on release?
MarkRein[Epic]: Yes we will be opening up the UE3 areas of UDN once the game ships!
MarkRein[Epic]: We're also working on two major books on UE3 right now
                [BU]DeathBooger: 3Dbuzz right?
MarkRein[Epic]: Yes the 3DBuzz folks. They rock! They're also doing over 10 hours of video training modules to go with the PC collectors edition of the game!
[BU]DeathBooger: 3DBuzz is doing books for both the Editor and UnrealScript as well, correct?
MarkRein[Epic]: I'm not 100% sure what the exact split between the two books is. The publisher and Jason are going back and forth on that right now trying to figure out the best combination.

they're talking about the book 3dbuzz made for epic about the unreal engine 3.

It also explains you how to make one kick *** map

I'm waiting for it to come out, o and by the way its probably going to be 2 books instaid of 1, together spanning over 2000 pages of total awesomeness

That's probably a WMP issue. I once had that. Maybe upgrade to WMP11 or something.

                          try reinstalling your Xvid codecs.
I noticed epic did some crappy jobs at making those disks, on mines several video's end (as in are finish) halfway trough the video-files playtime.

(so the rest of the video i'm staring at a black screen.)

the video tutorials have indeed sound,

and the books MR are talking about are:
one of 1700 pages on the use of level editor (please Lord, let the pictures be in color)
one of 300 pages on the use of unreal script,

will be availables on your next library for the ones who can pay them

according to last news, said for Jason Busby on his forums, they still have not publishers,
so no clue when is coming out, but everyone of us awaits them for first quarter 2008, once finished.
