if UT3 had more publicity and was more well known, it does have the potential to be GOTY. Look at UT99...

i don't get the concept of "GOTY"... namely in the fact that there isn't a SINGLE overwhelming authority on it.

there's EGM GOTY... GFW(formly CGW) GOTY... PC GAMER GOTY... and so forth. which all amounts to a whole lot of nothing... especially when i've seen a few "GOTY" from some obscure "name" i think is total BS.

is it really that important to you? i know it means squat to me.

couldn't agree more. people are talking about this like it's an award handed out by some formal organization when it's just some magazines selling...magazines. :shrug:

UT3 WILL be GOTY for all of us who know what matters. Pity the rest of the so called 'gamers' that can't handle the insane frag fest that IS UT.

Well if it's released next year, then it has to compete with MGS4, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Resident Evil 5 (possibly) and some others I can't remember now. I still think that UT3 would deserve to win if it was nominated next year, but everyone doesn't think like me. lulz.

I think UT3 has a very good chance, i know it well sell allot of copy's and those graphics ... DAM BOY! it beats anything out right now

As much as I like TF2 as well, I doubt that'd win GOTY. Possibly The Orange Box, if bundles are valid.

But mainstream or not, UT3 has much more features than the other games mentioned.

I hope so but I expect other titles such as Halo 3 to soak up all the awards.

UT3 isn't mainstream enough for GOTY imo, they're gonna pick something more safe like TF2, Crysis (if it's out this year) or the once you listed, Halo 3 is a very clear GOTY from all that marketing alone, a game doesn't have to be good to sell with that much marketing.

Does anyone else here think that Unreal Tournament 3 has potential to become Game of the Year? The Unreal Engine is capable of producing fantastic graphics, the gameplay looks absolutely terrific, the capabilities regarding modding/mapping for consoles is brilliant and well, it's Unreal Tournament 3.

I know it has some tough competitiors such as BioShock and Halo 3, but in my eyes, UT3 dominates both.
