If I were to speculate, I'd say given the evidence from the videos of both invisibilty and berserk, that yes they have translated them into pu's (with the invis being pu to adren back to pu ). Question is which ones have been translated, spawn times, map placement....yadda yadda
Ok, I'm just jumping in here...but has it been defined yet what exactly the pu's are and if so, what are they (have pu's replaced adrenaline essentially)? I noticed the 'Berserk' pu on that map and had to watch it a few times to make sure I wasn't seeing things
Epic hasn't said much about it. The consensus is that there is no adrenaline, and you've seen one former adrenaline combo, Berserk, as a pickup. Invisibility was a pichup before it became an adrenaline combo, so it doesn't count.
Yeah it seems there are more special pickups now than ever before, so yeah we might see the coloring of the pickup icon change based on what item is picked up.
We also might see a unique limitation if this is the case. Invisibility might fade when a Damage Amp is picked up. A damage amp might fade when Beserk is picked up. And so forth. That could help prevent someone from hording the pickups, for example, as a balance mechanism.

invisible or damage amp ?
he DOES have the damage amp sign ... thats indeed weird :S
this is not the complete game... as said before, it's most likely just a placeholder for now, meaning they'll implement the correct icon once they've decided there AREN'T other higher priority issues to deal with.
And well, they should make the full PPU usage available on the CPU for future techs , Quads would have a good crack at it
we don't know that yet. any demos that "tout" the Quad as being able to fully process as much as a PPU, actually don't do that much... and demos that do are being critized as "preventing" non-ppu systems from properly running those demos (either by NOT running, or slowing the system to a crawl).
btw, i have a quad core (QX6700)... and i'd be more than glad to get a PPU ALSO.
have you READ the rest of the thread or are you just jumping in?
you can do that completely in software (ie, using the CPU)... that isn't the question... the question is, how much of a performance hit will you take?
Epic WILL put in enough that they feel confident people WITHOUT the PPU can handle. no one is being forced to buy the card to enjoy the game... but supposedly, they have a few "bonus" type maps (maybe 1 out of 13 or whatever)... that you can only experience with the PPU (without hacking). if they're hacked, will a person be able to play those maps without a PPU? well, no one really knows, since the game is NOT OUT.
the point still remains... the game will still have plenty of physics, but whatever amount it is, is a decision by Epic... in their hopes of not overloading a decent system.
Yea ok I did jump in, actually I came over from gamespot forums, because we were discussing UT3 , and the lack of features/info's released compared with Halo/Crysis ect .. well as a big UT fan, I would like to know how its going, what can we expect new other than a story mode (Catering to the consolitez) ....
Is there any indepth info about what exactly is vastly improved on over UT2004? Some fans over there are beggining to think its a repeat of UT2003 ... while I hope not, I'd wish they get abit more flow of info coming.

This is silly, who actually buys those overpriced cards? They should of made destructable objects and placed them on normal Duo/Quad core performance ... hardly anyone is going to experiance this ...

Well I’m disappointed, I was hoping UT3 had a least some basic physics without the need of extra hardware., relying on movers and scripts is old.
Oh Well, maybe UT4..
Are you serious? that cant be right, The dark walker relies on physics for its leg movement.. and rag dolls... Im sure iv read about objects that the player can interact with in levels.
