The Ageia Tornado level is not actually part of UT3 but rather a mod for UT3 created by Ageia to show off their Physx physics processor. There is some pretty cool physics going on in that level. It is quite interesting to play.
That's what I figured... lots of stuff to blow up and swing and crash... not really a play level. One question... are the BERSERK and INVISIBILITY pickups part of the Mod, or core UT3? Come on... you can tell us!?
This video really has me worried about the fate of UT3. The aesthetics look like a UT2004 level
This map wasn't created by Epic but rather by Ageia. It isn't part of the game but rather it is a mod created by Ageia. I think you're correct when you say it isn't up to the high visual level of the rest of the maps that actually come with the game however this map isn't about visuals - it's about using a tons of cool physics as a disruptive element in the game and it does a really good job of conveying that.
Also I hope this is the only physics style gimmick map in the roster. I don't if I can deal with any more UT2004 style looking maps either. They never did fit the Unreal universe properly.
This map isn't in "the roster" as it isn't actually part of UT3.

THANK YOU !
that video really made worried. it's good news that's it's only a mod. (just take a look at BU's news section)
Will it still be in the game in the maps folder for fun sake, or will that be up to the community to develop crazy physics maps?
My guess (and this is just a guess mind you) is that Ageia will have this map or others available for download on their own site to promote PhysX. Similar to what they have for other games PhysX powered games.
very interesting indeed, i kinda like it.... it definately breaks away from the old style UT static maps. With the interaction of the enviroments like that it definately makes UT feel a lot more realistic, and have to be more away of your surroundings as in a hectic DM battle, stuff would be flying all over the place which i like a lot, as i said it definately breaks away from the very static UT maps we all come a customed too... Of course its only a demo really, so the tornado doesn't look as good as it could do with more time spent on it... and no noticeable performance hit, run very smooth i thought, dunno what kind of machine was running it though. My only query about the physX is that all the debri looks the same in all the physX games, the debri hovering around the tornado looked the same im some other games like Cellfactor. But i really love the idea of weather really becoming a hazard in some levels, can make for some rather sweet fragging, and dodging, or flying
I like the idea of perhaps Ageia having maps available for download so long as their free music in the vids were good too i thought.
overall, not spectacular, but im impressed still... thanks for posting the videos...

Say Mark, you been fragged yet by one of the visitors?
Not yet but hopefully today. The line ups were so crazy-long, at both 16-player LANs (one at Midway, one at Intel) yesterday I didn't think it was fair to take someone's spot at a PC.
Don't forget these guys (Ageia) aren't graphics guys, they're physics guys -so don't expect the absolutely amazing graphics and level design you see in our game in their mods. But, they've used their physics accelerator in some very, very cool ways to show how physics can be disruptive (in a good way!) to the game play. If you own one of their cards, and you buy UT3, you must experience this. Mod makers will definitely be inspired by this so I think there will be some amazing UT3 content for the Physx physics accelerator once UT3 ships in November.
