Timming of DD, shield keg, 3rd party timers, (g15)

Is there going to be anything to stop people using keyboards such as the G15 timing the power ups ? Seems very very unfair to me that people use this method. Might as well just put a timer in the UT3 settings.

Or maybe im just goodie goodie and i should buy one aswell, maybe a few spelling lessons too.

Seems very strange to me that the time is not simply displayed in the game itself.

What's the problem with people timing power ups with external timers? Some people time them by looking at the ingame clock, some people by gut feel, some by a physical timer.

Personally I don't play DM, and prefer ONS with supers off and time by gut feel.

If Epic didn't want people to time things then they'd make the spawn time random.

Is an external timer any different to having a mouse with extra buttons to make switching weapons easier?

there too many ways to time a pickup and all are really valid.
          1. use the ingame clock
          2. use a buddy to time it (team games w/ vent)
          3. eggtimer
          4. 3rd party highschool electronics project
          5. G15/ nostromo n52
          6. middleschool Vbasic timer
that list goes on timing its very simple to do

All the above require knowledge that the pickup has been taken to time the event correct so its still far from perfect.

The in game timer is fine, it is one clock that counts backwards and you need to remember the timing of the DD and the Shields its takes a little time to get good at it.

With the g15 it has separate timing for both DD and shields which i think is a little unfair.

            Clanbase rules

"It is not allowed to run any programs that change the original nature of the game (zeroping, timers, adrenaline binds)."

"The use of external timing programs and timing aids is strictly forbidden, as is any other form of powerup timing. Only the ingame clock may be used."

I can see the gripe. But really, it's hardly a huge advantage. A have a G15 and I don't use it to time because I can't be bothered and I find it just as easy to use the in game clock. If people want to use external timers I say good luck to them. I think powerups already pay to much of a key roll in the game, some sort ingame power-up reminder would just add to the problem imho.

Yea I use the clock, I dont really care and dont need an actuall display telling me a powerup is up.

That is an unenforceable rule. They cannot stop a person from calling out a pickup then another member in the ts calling back 55 seconds later.

I totaly agree i just think if people are using timers then it should be common knowledge.

I agree with the clanbase rules. Use ingame time or like me - the pure inbrain time.

so what, less then 5% of the players have a G15 or nostromo. I use ingame timer. and so does 50% of the people who playu the game.

                        - 5% G15 or nostromo...
                        - 50% ingame timer
                        - 10% don't know what powerups are
                        - 15% don't kknow respawn time
                        - 20% won't use it/are too dumb too use it

In ONS, if you can effectively time the various powerups, then your team has an advantage. The good news is, either team can do it, but they have to choose to do it. So, I don't think you can really worry too much about it since people are going to do it and as one person mentioned, unless you have random spawn times, there is little you can do to stop it.

                          Adapt!

I saw keg and party and had to see what the ruckus was all about.

                            Oh.
