I dont know about player numbers, but view distance seems to be unlimited in Unreal Engine 3.
If there is a limit it sure is hella high.

The view distance is approx 3 miles square, I had to manually add hight fog to make the view distance stop at some point, if I hadnt, the scene woulda looked alot less real.
Not sure what limitation of engine are. trying to find that msyelf. Maybe a dedicated dual core server would suffice?
What engine are you using now? BF2? only engine i recall that can handle 64 players. i remember tinkering around with farcry map editor. makinga 100x100 km map. that was... hummm. interesting :P
i think UE3 can handle map transitions while playing though.
(imagines a large island map, with some people taking of in gets or choppers or whatever. then flying high up into the atmosphere for even more room to dog fight in.

I was wondering about the capabilities of the engine, as am considering moving an existing mod to a new engine. Game is a FPS with heavy vehicle focus. (tanks/jets/apcs/helicopters)
Maximum map size and view distance?
Minimum would be 8km x 8km maps and 2-3km view distance.
