Release CTF-FACE and DM-Deck17 as Bonus Pack?

What if release these two map in 1st bonus pack shortly after game released.
Delaying of these map would give opportunity to other maps, also make bonus packs more popular among server admins. Not much servers had installed offical BPs in UT and UT2004...

Actually it's Deck 16, Epic is going old school.

Unreal was Deck16 and had no teleporter to the deemer area.
UT was Deck16][ and had a significant change compared to Deck 16.

Face is already confirmed besides Coret Facility, Deck16 is very likely in too.

I remember long ago epic saying they had Deck17 built so you can see the difference in movements from UT2kx to UT3.

Well, I really hope not to see any official ports, including bonus packs. New content is what's going to help UT3, not things we've seen before.

                DONT'T DO IT EPIC!

You'll have new maps, Epic always did it. But original maps like DM-Deck will always be there. They're good and important, since the first Unreal and there are many people, like me, who love to play in those environments. The number of Deck versions for all Unreal Games prove that!

"New content will help UT3", but "old content" (revisited) will help a lot to keep traditional players. Classic is always classic! Classic maps are, IMO, the best tool to see how the gameplay is changing since the first Unreal engine just because they're there since the beginning.

And there is a time line in Unreal Universe. Keepin classic maps among the new ones, IMO, is fair and helps to keep and tell the story.

Well, as long as the remakes are adjusted simply to accommodate new movement, I'm for it, but not strongly. Ill-considered alterations (yeah, I'm looking at you, Deck-17) and graphic polygon-porn (yeah, that was in reference to you, Curse 3) are the bane of remakes, and mappers sometimes don't know when to leave a good thing alone. Many remakes try to out-do the original by going one step further, over and over, and end up diverging by a whole lot.

There are good things about official remakes, but the fact that every server serves them (and little else) is a problem. Having one official Deck remake avoided having countless community efforts, as happened in 2k3 (one of which was superior to Deck-17 by quite a bit). But the habit of rehashing old successes is one creative people should avoid. For this reason alone, remakes are a problem, since they stunt the growth of new classics by absorbing creative effort.

If the mappers knew they had to continue to make popular new maps to stay in the business, don't you think they'd put forth even more effort in regards to making a crop of very long-lasting, satisfying maps, instead of a crop of filler maps along with the remakes?

Looking at the success of UT1's original map list, you'd have to agree that original work is the way to go. By the numbers, the more remakes you've got in a group, the less popular the originals thrown in amongst them tend to be.

Good thing about maps like Deck16 being in a new game is it acts as a benchmark for how the game plays compared to previous version (if it's not completely overhauled geometrically).

There is always room for the classic maps, a big part of the reason the UT series has it's fanatical following comes down the arenas we played in since Unreal was released, they are like "home" to many UT players and over time the duds have been mostly filtered out to leave the ones that play well (for all player types not just noobs or ut-masters).

Even in 20 years time when Epic release 'Unreal Tournament 15" or whatever, Deck and Face will be in there, difference is we'll all be having them beamed directly into our retinas and using thought control and wetting ourselves at how cool it feels to at last actually "be in" Deck 16.

Of course, i'm looking forward to new maps too.

Plus the Egyptian music was pretty funky. Yeah, I'd like to see a Face 3 in UT3, as well as another 'Deck' level to keep up the tradition. But I think it would be totally killer if they had a few levels that took place back at Na pali.

As much as i would pay for an expansion id rather Epic just made it downloadable. thats what they have always done and im sure that's how it will be this time.. The maps are going to have a much bigger file size this time round tho...

As for classic maps.. I LOVE CLASSIC maps, i would even wish they remade some classic maps from the community, such as CTF-Baranco (my fav), CTF-ProjectX, and classics like CTF-EternalCave, CTF-Hydro16.. I love remakes...
I like how they are remaking Coret but im quite worried because i live the futuristic style of the classic and the 2004 remake and now its industrial :s

Good new to hear. This means at least we wont see 75% of world servers are 24/7 Face / Deck ... even when they released, there will be some good (and used to play) new UT3 maps.
