If the benchmark results for Rainbow Six: Vegas are any indication of what we can expect from UT3 than none of the current top of the line hardware is going to run the game at respectable playable levels at full screen. I personnaly do not consider Frame Rate drops to 20 FPS to be acceptable and playable levels.

Smart people will wait and see what new hardware is available when the game is finished. If you cant wait and have to go blow your wad now then you will just come to regret it later. Personally I'm not wasting any money on anything that cant deliver a solid 85 FPS at 1280 x 1024 resolution. If the hardware doesnt exsist at the time of the games release then I wont even buy new hardware and I'll play the dam game in windowed mode at some rediculously low resolution where it does run at 85 FPS.

Hey coolaid you tried overclocking? My cpu is a asus p5p800 andhas 3.0ghz which i overclocked to 3.6ghz. Only it shoud be overclockable. I might and most probably be buying a PHYSX card. Then all i need is a agp 8800 or something equivelant. Do help. Secondly you won't *** kickin P5 or some ***** like that. Ya maybe they might get an award for the least sold game. 5 game sold. Seriously whoever said is surely retarded.system requrements would most probably be P4 2.5 MINIMUM and a 1600pro and a x800 or 6600 MINIMUM. So i strongly and highly reccomend an upgrade. Take your time to save up.

i panicked because imy cpu is 5% short of the msr. poor power supply so can't OC, although my asus motherboard (p5rd1) does have builted in OC feature, however i do not wish to fried my system over a game, i rather just buy a new cpu. finally someone understands what i'm talking about. *winks at mologan* ^_^

True. Check the demo. Then you'll see. No point buying a graphic card or cpu that is very high. Just sit back and relax. And in case keep saving. Thats what i'm doing.

this website claims it obtained the pre MSR from a reliable source
            http://www.neoseeker.com/Games/Produ...urnament_2007/

            p4 2.8ghz required

i only have 2.6ghz so i thought my cpu is 5% short of the msr.

so that site is lying then?

MAYBE they are. But I think they have made a calculated observtion. OR there is a very big possibility that they might be right. Unreal tournament 3 has been played by people other than the lucky developers. Maybe they played it in one of those GDC things or something. That is where they might have even checked the system and the minimum system requirements.

Lets hope us old folk who have AMD Athlon XP Barton 3200+ CPUs that are clocked at 2.2 GHz can run this. Its supposed to be a 3.0 P4 equivalent. I cant afford a new computer but atm i can possibly afford a 7800GS on this old rig. Im surprised i can run a lot of things i would expect this rig to stutter on. At start this wasn't a gaming rig. It was just a store baught computer but i gave it a substantial ram boost to 1 gig and for its time. a high powered video card. lets hope upgrading the card will be enough for now until i can get a job and money to get a new rig period.

Better than mine to be honest.

To OP: Wait for the demo, see if it runs. If not, check some benchmarks, and buy something that'll surely run the game.

What the devs have is not indicative of what the final game will need. They need to make the game work as they optimizing... that said, it is very likely that no-one but the most die-hard game junkie is going to be playing UT3 on the highest possible settings... but that doesn't mean the game won't be good at average settings.

rolz at these posts haha.. funny shiz guys lol!

about your specs, i think its great for UT2K4, but for UT2K7 I feel like its misserable. well on the bright side you have a pci-e slot, and your gfx card isnt bad,(yes its a bit outdated, but its not bad! lol),, hmm check and see how much ram and what max cpu it allows to be upgraded on your boards specs. then maybe just maybe you can get away with upgrading to another cheap gig of ram or two, and slapping ina better proccesor, im geussing its not gonna be that much higher in terms of processor speed and either way it will probably be shorthanded for UT2K7. but might run it in pretty bad condition.. just veiws to get you running at is my guesses.

                            Just my guesses though.

edited: just read the whole thread lol and now that i saw you said you likely wont upgrade your current set up cuase of sytem/power failure or what not, omit my enitre post rofl! BUT if your sytem allowed upgrades without failing, maybe just a upgraded cpu and with our withought an extra gig of ram would get you runnin in poor condition.

I think it'll run ok on my system:

                              Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe mobo
                              AMD 64 3800+ (2.4 Ghz)
                              2GB OCZ Gold Series DDR 400 (2-2-2-5)
                              2 Evga GeForce 7900 GT CO's (500/1500 - 512MB total vRAM)
                              Seagate 250GB SATA3 7200RPM HDD
                              Rosewill 550W PSU
                              G15 Gaming keyboard
                              Fang Gamepad
                              1500 DPI Logitech mouse
                              Thermaltake SViking Case
                              19" NEC Multisync FE900+
                              19" Dell LCD Display

Edit: May be upgrading to an 8800 series card or two after I see what kind of benchmarks they put out on a DX10 game with vista installed.

This is the important point. The Vista/dx10 game/dx10 card, performance question will be answered shortly and if the results are as good as hoped it need not cost a big sum. If you go OEM vista / lower end dx10 card, cards that should be widely available by UT3 release time .
