Well like I said Epic havent done a full UT game themselves yet, this will be the first Epic only UT! Your vision of the past is clouded young apprentice, you must rise to the occasion

Please explain to me how this is not overly exaggerated. Last time I checked, VCTF was just CTF with a few vehicles thrown in.

I sure hope not hey, I like alittle variety. Not so much so I download every little bit of custom content I can get but within the bounds of good mods or even the official content.

Rankin is a kewl map hey I like it, still there are alot of other good ones as well. Face on the other hand can die a slow painful death, I got my fair share of it in UT99 and have played face classic a total of like twice since playing UT2k4. I kinda liked face3 and I can agree on the issue's with it, maybe it was just the visuals.

I think the community has to be alittle more open and stop all this segregation. Vehicles vs No Vehicles, Trans99 vs Trans2k4 vs No Trans, UT99 vs UT2k4, its getting beyond a joke. Epic will do the best to please people for sure but you guys arnt the only ones out there, there is a total unspoken majority out there who dont even visit these forums or play online at all.

Can we try to be alittle more tolerant and perhaps alittle more optimistic about what Epic will provide in this game. I just feel Epic have done a good job in the past, sure there was some issue's with previous games but you gotta look at the history with digital extreme's. DE made UT99 and it was them who started UT2003, this is an Epic game!

Ok 30-40 maps, we'll go with 40. 4 Gametypes, DM/TDM(use the same maps), CTF, Warfare. so 40/3 say = 13 then for vehicle vs non vehicle maps 13/2 = we'll go with 5-7 just for ease. Thats how many maps you could expect not to have vehicles in CTF, mind you thats an average so it could be more for all I know.

Now my question, are servers going to bother running a 5-7 map rotation? and are people really going to play those maps over and over again?

I feel another rankin/face fiasco brewing. I can undertsand in comp's but Im sick of this CTF with and without vehicles stuff. How about you just assume the best for once that Epic will provide a filter that works!

That's good to hear. Based on your comment, would it be correct to assume that UT3 will ship with a coupe non-vehicle CTF maps? Also, is there going to be some sort of an easy filter system to distinguish between CTF and vCTF servers?

But I know that you know this, and because of that I'm sure you guys considered it. But it sounded a bit disturbing nonetheless...
Or did you split the gametypes up again? In that case, everything would be fine.
I'm very concerned about this because on-foot CTF (in UT99) is my favorite gametype. Also, on-foot no vehicles CTF is what the UT99 players who are interested in UT3 are waiting for !!! On-foot CTF is what they enjoyed in the original and they still play it to this day and they expect to play it without vehicles when UT3 come out.

Transforming CTF into vCTF would be larger than the mistake of transforming UT99 Domination into the failure that was Double Domination because on-foot CTF had a far, far larger community and fan base than classic Domination.

Maybe a modder can write a mutator that allows hoverboarding players to use the grapple not only on friendly vehicles, but on bsp and meshes as well, like the Chaos UT grapple. That mut could then be included within the map's myLevel-package and you'd be fine, even without a trans.

I think it may be much more simple: SwitchHoverboardToXlockVolume

So inside bases (depending on map design) you can only use translocator and outside only hoverboard. But, if you leave xlock at some base then leave volume, xlock disappears, and you cannot teleport.

Let's imagine a map with 2 big bases built in a classic style (ramps, z-axis, no vehicles...), separated by a big piece of terrain where vehicles get into the action. You need the hoverboard to go across the terrain zone in the middle, but you do not want to skate across a bunch of platforms once inside the enemy base!
another good reason why mixing Vehicles & CTF maps doesnt work they are two different gametypes with wildly different requirements and play styles...

Then imagine that in some cases you might have to actually run or dodge!
