Anybody else in it for the editor?

Going through these forums, it feels like I (and a very small couple others) want Unreal Tournament 3 for the UnrealEd. There's a large project (a total conversion mod: It's going to be an RPG when it's done) I want to get started on, and so the more UT3 is pushed back, the longer it'll take to get started on!

Because of this fact, I'm also looking for different things when new media like this gets released. I drooled over the gold material and UnrealCascade in the early demos (as well as neat new PhysX). Too bad there's not really anything like that shown in the new teaser footage.

Anyway, I'm just curious if there are any others out there that are like me.

Also, I'm pretty sure there's no answer on this (tho' I did see a little something in GoW during the short time I watched my roommate play it), but does anyone know if the water (and clouds) are relative to Crysis's? The RPG will have beaches, too, so those Crysis terrain flybys were just amazing for me. Or, does anybody know if UE3 will allow for custom pixel shaders? I've been doing a lot of work in pixel shaders lately for a game project of mine, and kindof at least know how crytek did the clouds and soft particles.

Yep. They have been licensing the Unreal 3 engine for a while so I bet they could release their tool set before the game, if they wanted to.

There is already a version of the new UEd available, it is distributed with the UE3-game RoboBlitz which is available via Steam. Nice way to get a feeling for it, but in no way as complete as the toolset bundle we'll be getting with UT3. That's at least what I've heard, I don't have RoboBlitz.

If it's anywhere as awesome as UT was, then I'm in it for the editor and the game. If it isn't that good, I'll probably still use the editor.

I will most probably map and play as much as possible, but if the game is awesome I guess it will be a while until I start wasting time in the editor..

I have absolutely no interest in the editor. I may take a look at it but if its anything like the others, making things takes AGES of work and I don't have that time. I don't want to waste time learning something I won't get to put to use.

Luckily, a lot are interested in it, and I hope to see some beautifull project with UT3 which will, like ever, greatly enhance the gaming experience. But I'm in this game to play it and thats all, really.

Up until all this UT3 ruckas, I was really only in it for the modding; but the latest media makes it look like a full-fledged blockbuster game on its own. I think I'll play just as mush as I mod.

I think I ended up doing more scripting than mapping. The maps I did were to test scripts in. The few times I started mapping I ended up scripting because I thought that my level needed a certain vehicle/turret, etc. It was a vicious cycle sometimes.

I'm anticipating more or less another UT2004, but with better graphics, so in it mostly for the editor. There are other games that will steal away my actual gaming time.

IF there is a way to get the editor without having to buy the game twice then I'm in, because I seriously doubt I would want to upgrade my pc for 1 game when I can play the console-version as well.

For $250 you can get a good Dual-core CPU/Mobo combo, and for $200 more you can get an excellent video card. That's more or less the price of an Xbox, and WAY less than a PS3 for a huge upgrade. If you need new RAM, just add $100, and you're still under the price of a PS3.
Also, don't think the upgrade will only be good for one game...

perhaps in the USA where hardware is cheap ...
600 merely gives you the equivalent of a bare-bones off-the-rack Acer T660 ... not exactly a good gaming rig especially when compared to a PS3 premium-package.
