I don't need permission by mail to speculate. For example, I can say with confidence concerning GDC that:

1) Epic will be pushing their engine products and not their games.
2) Midway will only have a booth in the career area.
3) Epic will probably release new screenshots/videos around the time of GDC.
4) The demo will probably be released around the time of GDC.

I'm not privvy to any "exclusive" information about GDC, but I feel pretty confident saying all of that stuff anyway.

Anyway, it doesn't matter. You can post whatever you want on your site.

Hmm...the mega surprise could be anything really when you think about. It could be a release date, the ripper, the Skjarr, a name change, that old conquest game type, some new game type, etc... Very interesting indeed.

As others elsewhere have said, this news wasn't new, it's been posted in numerous places already. However, most of the sites that were privy to it didn't post it.

Having one true statement in your post doesn't automatically make the rest of it not speculative.

The fact of the matter is, as I said before, you can post whatever you want on your site. There were at least a half dozen sites that posted similar news to what you did that you could have gotten your information from. It's not as if you were the first one to post it.

I really think everyone should just stop with the whole super secret speculation. Remember the whole "big announcement" a couple of months ago? Everyone was all excited, and then got ****** off when they simply announced a release date.

For all I know the whole thing about a "mega surprise which is top secret" is completely bogus. I don't have anything against unrealbase.de or anything like that. I just don't think it's wise to have everyone running around thinking some super surprise is on the way. Now if Epic specifically stated that in an e-mail, then that's cool, and I'd like to see the e-mail. Until then I consider it to be a rumor.

i think as for a great mega surprise it would be something pleasing, wich a name change is just not, and pleasing to everybody, not just the return of the ripper or skaarj, which would be great news just to player who are here since unreal, ut99 and ut2004
it could just turn out to be the same as the gears of war "big surprise", the release date.

I think Catzenjaeger is trying to say that he got all of his info from someone at Midway and he didn't speculate any of it. Whether the source from Midway is correct or not remains to be seen, but I think he thinks you're personally calling him a liar or something. Just a guess, I can't really tell what he means, there's a pretty big language barrier here.
