Unreal Tournament Role-Play, a multi-player game will focus on the daily life of people instead of deathmatch. In the final version you will be able to buy buildings, rent out rooms, be assigned jobs by an admin, make your own gang, become C.E.O. of most of the buildings, chase down players that commit a crime, rob buildings, buy a diner and make a profit or decline from wages from other people, buy guns at a gun shop, own a vehicle, have a job like a clerk, Army Private, Police Officer, gang member, hotel manager, diner manager, and much much more! This is a game of limitless ideas and is loosley based on the role-playing modification for The specialists mod for half-life. There is no real storyline to this game but that's because you can choose your own destiny, starting out as an unemployed piece of garbage with potential to be the richest man in the city or the top of the police's most wanted list. The map itself will be over similar size of an onslaught map but if the engine allows it (which it most likely will) it could 4 or 5 times that size.

This game will be set in a fictional city called Los Reyes which will have a waterfront atmosphere. The city will have all the essential building's and business in a communty and more. There will be places for ammusment (bar, paintball, shooting range), Places for protection (Police station, Bodygaurd agencys), places to eat ( Diner, Burger Joints, Supermarkets and five star restaurants.), places for your gang to hide all over the map and also many more buildings in the community. One of the biggest features is how this game will be partly run by the community, we are open to all ideas you wish to offer and will make changes to the map if you suggest them.


Some unique features include:
* Large variety of weapons compared to other games.

* The ability to get and improve on many everyday skills such as driving, shooting, kungfu and police training.

* The ability to get a job and move up in the chain of command.

* The ability to operate a business that sells either a good (black market weapons, drugs, novelty items, food) or a service (cleaning, protection, assassination.)

* The ability to join or create a gang or mafia and rob or fight with rival gangs, plan assasinations and much more.


Some other features:
* Ownership of a car and a house.

* Purchase upgrades and attachments for your firearms (scope, silencer, flashlight)

* Have access to a fully working rpg-like storage system.

* Harness the power of the Ageia physics engine to help set up your house. (this could help barricade the police)

Alright, first of all I would like to say that Sacrator mod copied our idea. We have topics dating back to Feburary 2006 and a moddb profile that is way older than theirs. We have also had deliberate advertising and taunting from Sacrator Mod, who suddenly popped up with descriptions similar to ours, even though we date back longer.

Our mod is about Role-Play as you can see from our description. We currently have roughly 9 members as of the time of this post. But we need more. If we are to take on this big of project we need more mod team members and community support to supply ideas and support the mod team morale. I am currently working on building the site to an even greater state so the best is yet to come... Any help or support is very much welcomed. so I'm just wondering, why arn't you guys working with the people at the Sacrator Mod, especaily if you both have a similar idea?

wouldn't it be better to build a base mod and then build a mutator to define diffrences or atleast build a similar base so you can get a quicker release.

even if you only temporarily work togather its a good idea because you really want to do a lot with your mods.

Judging from the description, I'd think that both Sacrator and you were influenced by the same source, namely the GTA series.

Oh, and I'm also curious to the question Guru asked. You have the same kinds of ideas (even if they just copied yours). Considering you need many people with mod making skills, a coup seems the best way to increase the team size.

Well it can do it... hell last I've heard even HaloWars RTS uses UE3.

First of all, our whole mod team does not want to work with Sacrator for four reasons. First, they copied our mod. Second, we have caught them lying before. Third, they sound like a bunch of spoiled nine year olds, they really do. And finally, when I asked them why they copied us they responded like complete immature jerks. Our reasons are simple. We refuse to work with immature little brats that try to 'own' people by throwing out insults a child would use.

Enough of that. This will be a mod where the main setting is present day. But anyone whom wants to build on the mod with mutators or game types is welcome to create their own time period mutator or game type. Or anyone whom wants to add some feature, weapon, etc. is welcome to. But the main setting we are working on is a city called Los Reyes which is like present day LA.

He can make whatever mod he wants, if you don't like it then don't play it.

Doesn't even have to be. It's not exactly hard to come up with an idea like "Take everything and crime and put it into a game."
The "Los Reyes" thing does point in the direction of GTA though.

I wouldn't really call it a GTA clone. The point of the game isn't to go around shooting everyone dead and call it a day. Instead, the point of the game is to act out real-life. That may involve violence if you rob a bank or something but the whole game isn't just some cops and robbers game.

And, this mod is for UT2007. Thats kind of why its in the UT2007 forum. :P

Well it does sound interesting but there is one thing you should consider, umm, real life can be very boring. For your mod to succeed, well in my opinion , you should concentrate on career's or job's that will be fun for a player. Ofcoarse there are people who like different things, like being a cop or a crook, you also get people who like to research and investigate more adventure game like. Another thing I would suggest is to not over do things with numbers and balancing those, Im sure you have some great idea's for rpg styles, but things should be kept at a pace where people wont get bored.

I myself got alittle bored in parts of gta series even and the sims can totally get boring. Same with games like diablo or simcity as well, all Im trying to say is I guess is keep it edgy. Atleast with a modern day setting in a semi-real location you dont have to deal with artistic styling.

Well yeah, there will be loads of jobs. Whether they be player made or default. And trust me there will be a lot of jobs as all of the buildings in the map will be enterable and usable. Plus later on we will include mutators or game types which will change the dynamics of the game. One I have planned is a zombie game type where the server starts out with a few zombie bots and once people start dying they turn into zombies. Once there is one player left or the time runs out then the people left alive are the winners. So this doesn't have to be all about Role-Play. It can be about zombies or other situations.
