Epic are the only ones who know for sure, but I don't think it'll happen in the way you're hoping. For example, I have around 380 user-created maps on my PS3, not counting mutators, characters, weapons etc. They total well over 8GB, compressed, so a fair size for download. And there's a lot more content out there that is available for PC that hasn't been cooked for PS3.

It would seem more likely that Anuban's right, and that any downloadable content heading 360-wards will comprise the winning maps, mutators & characters from MSU. As he says, who's to decide what's "the best"? Some maps I think are absolutely brilliant, but other people have decided they don't like them at all, so at the end of the day it really comes down to matter of opinion, & choice.

After all's said & done, only time will tell, so I guess we just have to wait & see

No doubt Epic LDs have done an astonishing job in creating superb mods, but in IMHO there are a few maps published in this community that have many advantages over the stocked ones. Designing levels and characters requires artistic abilities and there are always diamonds in the rough (this takes nothing away from the artists at Epic). Anyhow that's really besides the point. Even if the product is released with 50 maps it is still very exciting to download and play NEW mod every now and then. So, I don't think releasing a few of the current best maps with 360 (whatever way they decide) is nearly the same thing as being able to download new stuff.

For the benefit of the 360 players I hope they get to open up the 360 version to mods. UT3 is a great product and I hope people can enjoy it on as many platforms as can support it

    Cheers

Yes they did and what I think they mean by that is that the best mods are the ones that win the various MSUC phases and 360 users will get a DLC with the winner of the maps, mutators, and character categories. Maybe even a gametype. It makes sense otherwise who is really to say which are the best ones. So while it may take some time to happen much like UT360 when it gets here it will be totally worth it.

I think it's "fair" enough to say that when/if a dlc pack for 360 will be available, the exclusive content of the 360 will become available as a BP to PS3 and PC users.
Time will tell (as a PC player I really don't care that much anyway)...

ok this is pointless 360 users have already been told that we will get the best mods and maps out of the user created content as free downloads so you people who have doubt that the 360 version is any good just wait and see till we get our first DLC pack. Plus all of you who say ur not trying to be fanboy well your only lying to yourself cause comments like( UT3 plays best on PS3 ) how can you get anymore fanboy than that especially bubbles who said she was trying not to be fanboy lol yeah right

Well I paid £40 (approx $70-80) for my PS3 version of UT3. My point is that it wasn't Sony who bought Epic off and decided that Mod was a PS3 Console version exclusive, it was Microsoft who denied this to all of us 360 users. The reason why Epic has given the 360 "exclusive" content/features such as maps, characters and split-screen ( which I honestly don't really care about because if I want to play offline with a friend that's what LAN is for) is to give UT3 360's players some kind of comfort and to make up for the fact that the greatest and most important feature of the game lacks on that console. Yes, you are quite right, PC and PS3 players have the benefit of loads of community created content that is high quality, but as I said before it wasn't the developer or the competition who denied this to 360's players.

No. There is ZERO mod support for the 360 version. And Epic is not going to officially sanction porting over EXCLUSIVE content to the PC or PS3. Its not like the PC which is open and people expect that their content will get ripped. This is the 360 and that stuff is not allowed really (though people do it) and since in this case its a product that Epic and MS agreed would have this exclusive content I can't see them letting someone who illegally ripped it from the 360 version port it over to the PC and then PS3 versions. This is not like in the past with UC2 even ... since the word exclusive content was used only Epic would be allowed to bring this over and I after seeing how serious they are about their exclusive content for a platform (Gears 2 extra content for the PC) I just think on the PC and PS3 platforms should accept the fact that the 360 users have some things we don't and if you want them you need to buy that version (which is the biggest reason I don't see it happening).

Well I think that's the beauty of it, you have Epic giving you their official content and then you have the community doing the same. It's about choice and there's plenty. I honestly would never go near the UT3 Editor as I know I would be useless with it, but I do appreciate the work the community and Epic does when giving us this content for free.

Some come extremely close and those are generally the ones made by other folks in the industry that are pros as well (like Krodan, or some of the levels in the CBP3).

Anyway its only opinions we are talking about and your opinion is just as valid as mine ... we agree that there are awesome levels made by some enormously talented individuals though ... I just see a lot more in the Epic maps than you do obviously.
I agree with you when you look at things in that perspective. But I am sure that if a lot of people played a great custom map and one of the stock ones without knowing which was stock and which was custom, many of them would find the custom one more fun. It's really to complicated to compare all maps, and Epic's team has done a fantastic job with the stock maps.
