Why Keep Reviving Custom Chars from other Games?

Ok to be fair i have downloaded quiet a few and like most of them (and use a Theron Guard for GoW as my Char) but why don't people try creating new bad *** characters such as new alien spieces or the next Marcus Fenix (Because he is bad ***).

Anyone else have a say on this?

Ripping a pre-existing model from another game and rigging it with the UT3 skeleton is *much* easier and less time consuming than coming up with a brand new concept. Creating a character from scratch is very difficult work. You need to be fluent in many different programs like 3DSMax/Maya, Photoshop, and Zbrush/Mudbox in order to make a character. Not to mention that character modeling is probably the most difficult thing to do in 3DSMax. Then on the other side, porting a character from one game to another really only takes minimal knowledge of 3DSMax. So that's why you see lots of ports, and not very many 100% from scratch models.
