    Team based games work best when you have two sets of players moving in opposite directions to one another:

    CtF works, because both teams are trying to move through one another to get to the opposite base, it causes a forced conflict, meaning you encounter players in a manner that allows the team to deal with it.

    1F-CtF works, because both teams are trying to not only converge on a single point, but then move through one another to approach the enemy base - if you did it the other way around, the players would never have to encounter one another, if one team got to the flag first. If you spawn players in a mixed fashion, you end up with players that need to move to a central position, but the conflict is broken, because players aren't approaching in a manner suitable for team gaming, it's too random - you end up with players spending their time either shooting backs, or players not moving spending their time watching their backs

    Or maybe you could have the team spawn points (if that's the right term) spread throughout the level, so some blues spawn on the red side, and vice versa.

    One Flag (or Lonely Flag) CTF - it generally works a lot better if you have to take it to the enemy base.

    i know this is out there, but have not seen it for ut3. How about a mod where its ctf, but with the flag in the center and both teams respawn on opposite ends of the map and must race to it. the bring it back. It would be nice to see maps specifacly designed for this.
