    Work in Progres Demon Character for UT3 Mod

    Hi my name is John Inman. I am also known as Agent-X. I am posting my work in progress of a demon character I am modeling for a UT3 mod called Arms of Redemption. My team mate and team leader is Charles Jones also known as EvilEngine. I started modeling the low res mesh in Maya, uv mapped in Unfold 3D, finished uv layout in Maya, then brought the low res version into ZBrush to sculpt the highres version and that is where I am at now. I hope you guys like this. Feel free to comment or give suggestions, feedback, etc.

    Aw cuuuuuuuuuute. Very nice. He's a little "clenched", but I love the face to hold my attention. How are you handling the wings? Is every tooth in the Low poly version?

    ...."charles"? Realy? Never would have guessed.

      Awesome! You 2 really know how to make monstrous characters! Don't forget to make some badass player models for UT3

        The wing flesh is going to be done as a seperate object, since it is a flat sheet basically. I plan on using a transparency map and making the flesh on the wings ragedy and torn a lil bit. Me and EvilEngine go way back. I first met him when he was doing the Halo mod for UT2003/UT2004, then we worked together on Neo Cairo Orbit Wars with Team Orbit. Now we are working together on our own mod that he has come up with, which has an awesome story plot to it. This character I am doing is a short character. I imagine it coming up to about the hip area of the main character. And yes we do have a main character model that EvilEngine has created. We are still learning alot about the editor and how stuff works in game. Still lots to figure out and resolve. We are hoping that Epic will come out with a patch to solve some of the issues we have. Don't worry guys, we deliver.

          The wings look a bit small to me. They don't look like they could actually carry him off the ground. Other than that he/she/it looks very hellish and very cool.

            In one of the other forrums someone suggested the possibility of it possibly not flying for very long, like a chicken. Because of its weight. I was thinking when it moves, it runs around on all fours like a gorilla and can leap around and then get that little extra boost and glide through the air by spreading its wings. Maybe possibly similar to that with the icarus wings in God of War2. Or when its in flight, it can only fly for a certain amount of time. We shall see what we come up with. And yeah its an it as far as I know.

                    Thats because he only comes up to the hip of the main character I said he was a short character. You will see many characters from me and EE including giant monsters and creatures. Lots to come. Just to let you know the story will take place in Hollywood, I plan on modeling the environment since I live in Los Angeles. Lots of stuff to come guys. We deffinately plan to attract a crowd.

                        Here is my latest work in progress. The next time I post the modeling part will be completed and I will show my low res wireframe with normal maps and all that good stuff. I still need to work some muscle areas out and some scratches and wrinkles and what not out still, but that should be done soon, Ill keep you guys posted. I am going to include where I got my inspiration from as well.

                          Latest image, I hope you guys like it. The human character is EvilEngine's I just used it as referrence to how tall I think the demon character should be in relation to the main character. The render was created in maya. We are still working on concepts for clothes and armor for the main character. Anyways feel free to comment on the demon character. Thanks. And by the way both me and EE can deffinately use a programmer to help us with our mod desperately. I tried approaching SolidSnake because he is a good friend of mine, but he is busy with Chaos UT, so I am forced to go hunting to look for another programmer. We plan to make a total conversion. Meaning we plan on making all our own characters, weapons, creatures, environments, animations and everything. Both me and EE have been modeling close to 10 years each and we want to use the assets we have and are going to create for the mod. I am also a 3d instructor, I am having my students help us. So the art assets will come quick. We would like to get an experienced programmer with unreal script to help us. We have a story as well. For the environment it will start off in Hollywood, which I personally will take care of by taking photographs, and handing that stuff to myself and my students to knock it out, then exporting to UT3 to create the level. We can use a hand starting off as far as code is concerned. If you are interested, please join us.
