Editor crashes when trying to open some packages

Sorry... i really suck in UE3, but i neeed one more answer.

So, for example when i am importing custom texture, music or whatever i import - editor refuses to do it.
When I am trying to open package ( i dont know it's name, but it is starting with UN_) - editor crashes. It also crashes when i open A_Music_arrangements package. Is it fixable?

Have you opened/edited those packages in the past?

Here is what my A_Music_arrangements looks like when i view it in its folder.

    C:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\CookedPC\Sounds

    A_Music_arrangements.upk 10/27/2007 12:55am

If you been duplicating stock packages (stuff inside them) you may have corrupted one of them.

Describe the importing stuff again. Are you able to make a new file/save it. Make a material (non importing stuff) and try to save that.

      To add to euchreplayer23...

Are you trying to import the assets through the Generic Browser?

Also, you need to either select your map name (ideal) or create a new .upk file. There are benefits and such for each method, but if you are creating a map, it's usually best to add all custom content to the map file.

I havent changed any package (21.10.2007).
And ok i know what to do when importing custom stuff, but! I still dont know why editor crashes when i open all packages from Enviromment folder - it usually crashes at opening UN_Cave package. Maybe it is denied to import many packages?

Does you Unpublished folder have an environment folder in it by some odd chance. If so delete that.

Or the same package that is crashing? This has happened to me once or twice (duplicate Epic .upk files)

That's correct, but look in your "My Documents" folder for any .upk file that you didn't create that is the same name as an official package.

You can try removing the 3 LocalShaderCache to your desktop. These will be rebuilt anyways.

If can try moving your entire "Unreal Tournament 3" folder in your \Documents\My Games folder. Just move it to the desktop. DO NOT DELETE IT.

Then, start up the game, which should recreate it. Move the file from your original folder back into the correct spot and try again. All of your settings will be back to the default, but this if or testing purposes only.

If it works, you know there is something messed up in those folder.
