How do you attach weapons to a Skeletal mesh?

Hey guys, I'm currently stumped on my Machinma project for College. I need to attach a Sniper Rifle to a Human Skeletal Mesh. I think the process went along the lines off attaching the Sniper Rifle to the Skeletal Meshes right hand bone and changing values to position the Sniper Rifle correctly, but I can't find the menus or options anywhere

    Any help would be appreciated!

PS. Everything im using is built into Unreal Editior UT3 and I am not using any custom meshes.

Thanks for the post but its way to complicated for what I actually need. The way my tutor did it ages ago was he just parented the gun to the skeletal meshes hand so it looked like he was carrying a gun. Thats all i need, and the gun needs to stay in his hand while the skeletal mesh follows the path in kismit. I'll check with the tutor again tomorrow probably.

I cant see that video (at work) but its realllly easy.

          a) place your character and sniper rifle in the map

          b) toggle on sockets (the red half circle in the menu bar) this will display all of the available sockets in the mesh

          c) with sniper rifle selected, click on one of the hand sockets - VOILLA!

you can also place the sniper rifle in the map, press f4 to open its properties, click the lock icon at the top of the properties window, select the character, and the press the <- icon in the attachment section of the properties box. Specify which bone it is to attach to (either b_Rhand or b_Lhand) i think those are the names anyway. You can check by opening the skeletal mesh from the browser and going into socket manager to see what the names of the sockets are. You will then have to move the sniper rifle to the hand. cheers

That should be what is in the video. I honestly can't remember it's been so long since I made that video.

Omg thanks guys! Thats only like 20x quicker then the way the tutor was trying to teach us! He would have us sit there guessing numeric values untill the weapon positioned itself correctly. Love you guys!
