Terrain stays to complex a mesh

Hey guys, I have a problem that when I edit my terrain tessellation values, in my top viewport it looks like it is increasing or decreasing the amount of details, but in my perspective view I can clearly see it adhere to a much complexer shape regardless of how much detail I tell it to put on there.

Does it need a full rebuild or something?
...or am I missing an option?

    Cheers,
    Kevin

Try changing your TessellationCheckDistance to 0 or 1 (I can't remember which off-hand).

      Found it!
I had to chance the EditorTessellationLevel value.

I still don't get it though, pfff...
as far as I'm concerned it's yet another half-baked UE3 feature. The new terrain.

I want to thank Apophis3d for his terrain tutorials, it seems very important that you change your amount of detail within Unreal TerrainEdit and not simply within the ActorProperties of the terrain actor.

In the TerrainEdit it seems to work great now.

The dynamic tessellation functionality only works if your NumPatchesX and NumPatchesY values are powers of 2, I believe. Otherwise it will always show the highest level of detail.
