    alpha map in material problem

    Hi folks,

I've been trying to apply an alpha map to a staticmesh. I've got the alpha channel of a 32 bit tga file hooked up to the opacity mask in the material editor. It's not working for me though. Is this the right way to do it? I've included a pic of the material so you can see:

    Thanks

If you are doing it that way, make sure the Material is set to BLEND_Masked and the OpacityMaskClipValue is appropriate for the alpha channel information.

Thanks, I tried altering the blend mode, but still no luck. I tried using a seperate tga for the alpha map aswell, but that causes the editor to crash for some reason? Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Add a Constant to the Opacity, so it knows how strong the mask should be.

The OpacityMaskClipValue determines the opacity point, just like I stated.

What is in the Mask channel on the TGA?
If it isn't a proper mono/grayscale mask, then what you are trying to do won't work.
