    rule 1

    Dont use blender.

    rule 2

    dont use blender

    rule 3

Import the texture map into unreal and do the blend in there. No need to work with materials in your 3d package.

Blender is a nice free piece of software. It's good enough if you can't get your hands on anything else, or does Mr. Hushpuppy know something that I don't?

@Hushpuppy - well that was a complete waste of a post.

The idea is to export a mesh with two UV sets, so that two different materials can be applied to it.

Try this new Blender to UT3 tutorial:

          http://www.leveldk.co.uk/ut3_1.htm

          Maybe it will help.

As I understand it, in Blender any textures you use (or materials) will just become placeholder slots for when you import the mesh into UnrealEd, where you will assign the actual materials. Blender materials/textures are not exported with the 3D mesh. I hope a tutorial writer does get more detailed, even if its just a step by step guide on how to texture a simple cube or other object in Blender and then export to UnrealEd where you can either use UT3's materials or how to create and import your own into UnrealEd to assign to your imported mesh and add collision of one type or another.

In all 3d packages the assigned materials are just placeholders, they are not exported with the .ase data.
Once the mesh is imported into UEd any Material can be assigned to the material slots.

I found it, my simple mistake. I didn't link and add more steps. You have to assign the materials to the faces. Under the materail add one texture. Under that texture you have to assign the image. Once that Done it works.
