Whats your file extension preferences for image import for ue3

    Hiya guys,

Just wondering if there was any real specific file extensions that should be used for particular textures? I'm currently exporting a lot of materials from photoshop as .bmp to import into unreal, but I'm not sure if this has any impact in game. But when I was creating my rain effect I found I had to use a .tga to obtain a dx5 (I think from memory) to get the alpha working correctly for the static mesh.

This might also clarify to myself exactly what compression ue3 is doing once I'm importing my image as a bmp is generally several megs.

If you are going to be using an Alpha channel, then definitely .tgs, but most texture samples I import are 24-bit .bmp files.

I've always used targas (.tga). It just seems easier to always use the same file type and .tga provides you with everything you need.

Nice, So it seems more like a personal preference. I'm assuming that .bmp won't take up too much more resources even though there file type is usually larger?
