    how to paint a brush?

    hi,

i trying to find out, how to paint a brush.

    an example:
i want to make a stone, but this stone has many polygones and i don´t want to select every little triangle.

do you know how i paint ( like layer painter) a brush (stone)

p.s i have no static mesh programm and i don´t want to have one. i wanna do this with the UED4.0

Not quite sure if I understand you. If you have one whole additive brush composed of many polygons, you can either select individual faces and assign a material or select them all by right clicking and 'select all'. The closest I can think of to 'painting' a brush would involve external programs such as Deep Paint3D but this would be a static mesh and as you said you want to do it in Ued with brushes. From your question I don't think you can do it the way you want.

So you have a complex brush and you want to apply one texture to every face without having to individually select every face.

Select one face, right-click and click Select Surfaces > Matching Brush

That will select every face on the brush.

thanks, but this i already knuw.
i want to make a complex stone, without any extern programm, just with the UED4.0 and when i apply a material on one face, and an another material on a adjust face, that dont looks good, more like in ut2000 (GOTY).
i want that the stone looks good.

          nobody know an answer?

UnrealEd is not meant to be used to create complex geometry using BSP. You're asking for trouble if you pursue that avenue. 3D mdeling applications specialize in this sort of thing and Unreal supports static meshes for just this purpose.

You can use one of the free 3d applications like Blender or Maya PLE.
They are not that much more difficult to learn the basics on compared to learning UnrealEd itself.

thx, blender is for free, but i need more time too understand this ED.
do you can tell me, some sites filled with turorials or learning-movies?

Search the forums for the word 'tutorial' and you should get some threads that have links.

If u mean BSP brush just select any side and hit shift+b at the same time. Then select your material.

If u are refering to a mesh you do not need to paint it.Just right click it,go to static mesh, rendering, materials, add new item, highlight your wanted material in the browser, hit green arrow in the static mesh props window and it will apply it for u.If u wanna tweak the scaling u will need to open Kismet and use a tex coord and various MIC that someone else will have to help you with because I haven't got that far into Kismet yet.

                    Good luck m8.
